Pinus armandii ectomycorrhizas mobilize aluminium‐bound phosphorus via carboxylates along a subtropical altitudinal gradient

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 8, August 2026.
Ectomycorrhizal roots of Pinus armandii release more carboxylates than non‐mycorrhizal root segments, mobilizing Al‐bound inorganic P. Under the lowest available P conditions, they also secrete more phosphatase, promoting the mineralization of Al‐bound organic P.

Navigating the Flames: Comparative Analysis of Cremation Practices in the Roman and Early Medieval Periods at Gbely‐Kojatín (SK) and Přítluky (CZ)

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 4, Page 818-830, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Cremation became the dominant funerary practice in the Middle Danube Region during the Roman Period (RP) (1st–4th century) and reappeared in the Early Medieval Ages (EMA) (6th/7th–8th century). This study aims to reconstruct differences in cremation conditions from the Gbely‐Kojatín site (Slovakia, RP and EMA) and the Přítluky site (Czech ...

Mothering Through the Experiences of Homelessness With a Particular Focus on Child Separation in High‐Income Countries: A Scoping Review

open access: yesChild &Family Social Work, Volume 31, Issue 3, Page 1554-1567, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Mothers who experience homelessness represent one of the most vulnerable and marginalized groups, often facing separation from their children as a consequence of housing instability and intersecting challenges. Aristocratic identification in Felix’s Life of Guthlac

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 34, Issue 3, Page 435-457, August 2026.
Recent scholarship often sees high‐born monastics and clerics in early Christian England as part of the aristocratic class. Modern identity theories, however, suggest that social identity could be dynamic, situational, processual and discursive. In light of this concept, the present article reads Felix’s Life of Guthlac as a text that constructs an ...

Genes Related to Sperm Motility Are Under Recent Ongoing Selection in Two Shorebird Species With a Polygynous Mating System and Frequent Multiple Paternity

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 15, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The analysis of the genomic architecture of selection can be insightful for the understanding of sexual conflict and sexual selection acting in wild populations. In general, there will be a wide range of possible targets of selection in the reproductive system of sexually promiscuous species.

Combined phylogenetic and geographic data can predict plant–pest interactions with high accuracy

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 4, Page 2107-2123, August 2026.
Schematic overview of the study pipeline. Summary Non‐native plant pests can pose major threats to biodiversity, with destructive ecological and economic consequences. The ability to predict future threats would allow limited resources to be concentrated on managing the most serious risks. We built a Bayesian model to predict hosts at risk from Agrilus,
