Origin of an alternative genetic code in the extremely small and GC-rich genome of a bacterial symbiont. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2009
The genetic code relates nucleotide sequence to amino acid sequence and is shared across all organisms, with the rare exceptions of lineages in which one or a few codons have acquired novel assignments. Recoding of UGA from stop to tryptophan has evolved

Nonwood-Based Composites [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Forestry Reports, 2015
Nonwood fibers are derived mostly from fast-growing plants. For the past few decades, nonwood plant fibers have received much attention, especially for composite material applications, because of their low cost, low density, high specific strength, good mechanical properties, nonabrasiveness, eco-friendliness, and biodegradability. This article reviews
