Base-Level of Eolian Erosion [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Geology, 1909
The recognition of a land-level coinciding very nearly with that of the surface of the sea, but below which stream-corrasion cannot go, is a concept which has had such a potent influence in molding opinion concerning land-sculpturing and its evolution that any exception or modification is yet to receive general approval.

Bridging the Gap in Neuroblastoma Care: Consensus‐Based Statements With Recommendations for Improved Patient and Caregiver Experiences

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma's complex, heterogeneous biology poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, often requiring caregivers to absorb complex information and participate in time‐sensitive decisions. However, caregivers often feel unprepared to evaluate options.

Safety of Daprodustat for the Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease Anemia: Final Analysis of a Multicenter Postmarketing Surveillance Study in Japan

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This final analysis of a multicenter, prospective postmarketing surveillance study evaluated the safety of daprodustat in patients with chronic kidney disease anemia in routine clinical practice in Japan. Methods Patients who initiated daprodustat between September 2020 and July 2022 were registered.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Retos de la potestad tributaria en México respecto al impuesto sobre la renta en la economía digital

open access: yesRevista Activos, 2023
La economía digital ha tenido un profundo impacto en la tributación, pues la deslocalización de los establecimientos y la rapidez de su evolución han propiciado la erosión de las bases y traslado de beneficios de las grandes multinacionales, siendo esta

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Dynamics of gully side erosion: a case study using tree roots exposure data

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2016
Erosion is a frequently studied natural process. Unfortunately, detailed analysis mostly requires longterm field monitoring or detailed digital elevation models (DEM) which are still absent for many areas.

Skull base osteomyelitis with extensive bony erosion complicated by venous sinus thrombosis

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2023
Key Clinical Message Skull base osteomyelitis (SBO) mimics the presentation of various conditions, including solid tumors. Computed tomography‐guided core biopsy for culture informs antibiotic selection, and with intravenous corticosteroids, may minimize

Erosion Based Visibility Preprocessing.

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents a novel method for computing visibility in 2.5D environments. It is based on a novel theoretical result: the visibility from a region can be conservatively estimated by computing the visibility from a point using appropriately "shrunk" occluders and occludees.
