Erosion based Method for Quantification of Facial Palsy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computers Communications & Control, 2013
This paper presents a novel 3D face recognition method developed by means of erosion of a contractible topological space. The procedure was is involved in the quantification of facial palsy using pre-marked points. The recognition is done in two steps: in the first step a detection of the pre-marked mimic points on a human face is performed and in the ...

High Health Care Utilization Preceding Diagnosis With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although early diagnosis improves long‐term outcomes, patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) often experience prolonged, circuitous paths to diagnosis. To inform diagnostic improvement, we sought to characterize health care utilization in the year preceding diagnosis. Methods We identified 10,021 patients with an incident diagnosis

EROSIVITY INDICATORS BASED ON RAINFALL IN NORTHWESTERN MEXICO

open access: yesJOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT, 2016
This study is motivated by the problem of erosivity (R), exacervated in semiarid zones by intense seasonal storms. The purpose was to estimate the spatial variation of R in a coastal area covering 37500 km2 which is one of the most important agricultural areas in northwestern Mexico. Four methods were used.

Study on the standard of soil erosion gradation based on erosive daily rainfall

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2017
This paper took Yuyao city as the research area. the daily rainfall data of 30-year was collected from the typical rainfall station. And the daily rainfall power function model was used to calculate the rainfall erosivity. The weight that the rainfall erosivity of the rainfall less than 30mm accounted for the total annual rainfall erosivity was ...

Cavitation Erosion Mechanisms and Its Quantitative Evaluation Based on Erosion Particles.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 1999
Cavitation erosion mechanisms were studied through the observation of erosion particles for carbon steels. In the initial period and the incubation period, many small sharply-edged particles were produced by single impact loads. In the accumulation period and the steady-state period, large striated particles were observed due to cyclic loads.

A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...
