Sediment transport by runoff on debris-mantled dryland hillslopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Hillslopes supply sediment to river channels, and therefore impact drainage basin functioning and evolution. The relationship between hillslope attributes and sediment flux forms the basis of geomorphic transport laws used to model the long-term ...

Validity of a Wearable Digital Insole for Assessing Gait ON and OFF in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Gait impairment is a distinctive symptom of Parkinson's disease that negatively impact mobility. We assessed the validity of wearable digital insoles against a validated reference gait analysis system for measuring select gait characteristics in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods A comparative analysis between digital insoles

Cavitation Erosion Mechanisms and Its Quantitative Evaluation Based on Erosion Particles.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series A, 1999
Cavitation erosion mechanisms were studied through the observation of erosion particles for carbon steels. In the initial period and the incubation period, many small sharply-edged particles were produced by single impact loads. In the accumulation period and the steady-state period, large striated particles were observed due to cyclic loads.

Baseline Regional Cholinergic Denervation Predicts Cognitive Trajectories in Moderate Parkinson Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive decline is a disabling and variable feature of Parkinson disease (PD). While cholinergic system degeneration is linked to cognitive impairments in PD, most prior research reported cross‐sectional associations. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating whether baseline regional cerebral vesicular acetylcholine transporter ...

Development of a geospatial database for planning land protection measures against wind erosion

open access: yesZemleustrìj, Kadastr ì Monìtorìng Zemelʹ
This study describes the development of a structure that provides an opportunity to systematize and accumulate geospatial and attributive data. In the course of the research, a geospatial data base model was developed, which ensures the accumulation of ...

The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...

Functional plant strategies mediate post-fire ash–precipitation effects on soil–vegetation feedbacks in a dry-valley forest ecosystem: implications for restoration

open access: yesTrees, Forests and People
Wildfire fundamentally alters forest soil properties and vegetation dynamics through changes in ash deposition and post-fire precipitation, yet the coupled mechanisms governing soil–plant feedbacks remain unclear.

Beach face dynamics as affected by ground water table elevations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
This report presents the results of laboratory studies which were carried out in the Coastal and Oceanographical Engineering Laboratory to investigate the effects of ground water table elevations on the beach profile changes over the swash zone.

Limit Base Erosion via Interest Deduction and Others [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BEPS Action 4 focuses on excessive deductible interest and other financial payments, thus recommending the design of rules in order to prevent base erosion through the use of interest payments and double non-taxation both from an inbound and an outbound ...
