Effect of Seed Source on Physical Properties of Scots Pine (a Case Study in Neka, Iran)

open access: yesDrvna Industrija, 2013
This study investigated the seed source effect on the physical properties of exotic Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). For this purpose, nine clear pine trees grown from the Spanish, Armenian and Serbian (part of former Yugoslavia) seed sources were selected

WOOD QUALITY OF Pinus patula Schltdl & Cham FOR THE PULP PRODUCTION [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Árvore, 2019
The softwood pulp industry is based on the supply of Pinus taeda and P. elliottii woods, and competes for this raw material with other timber sectors. The study aimed to evaluate the wood quality of Pinus patula for pulp and paper production.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Longitudinal and Transverse Variation in the Physical Properties of Wood Red Tauari

open access: yesFloresta e Ambiente
The objective of this work was to study the fiber length variation, retractability and basic density, in the core-bark direction and along the heig of the red tauari wood (Cariniana micrantha Ducke). The stem was evaluated in the discs, from core to bark,

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Variation of Physical Properties of Eucalyptus globulus Grown in Ethiopia

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Innovation and Applied Sciences
This study investigated the variability of density, shrinkage, and sap-heartwood proportion in different sites and within a tree. 10 trees of E. globulus from Menagesha Suba (M/Suba) and Debre Birhan (D/Birhan) forests were felled and 12 disks from each ...
