Theory and examples of attractors with basins which are of positive measure, but contain no open sets, are developed; such basins are called riddled. A theorem is established which states that riddled basins are detected by normal Lyapunov exponents.

Abstract Owing to the high cost and high risk inevitably associated with unexplored, or essentially unexplored, basins in frontier areas where adverse environmental conditions often prevail, a method for ranking basins on a relative basis is necessary for the rational allocation of exploration funds and technical ...

Many remarkable properties related to chaos have been found in the dynamics of nonlinear physical systems. These properties are often seen in detailed computer studies, but it is almost always impossible to establish these properties rigorously for specific physical systems. This article presents some strange properties about basins of attraction.

While the superficial expression of oceanic ridges is generally symmetric, their deeper roots may be asymmetric. Based on a surface wave tomographic, we construct a global cross section parallel to the tectonic equator. VS indicate a difference between the western and eastern flanks of the three major oceanic rift basins.

Basin Inventory Southern Carnarvon Basin
Geoscience Australia aims to provide a concise inventory of the current geological knowledge and data availability for onshore Australian basins. These basin-wide studies inform the Australian Government, resource industry, and other stakeholders on the geology and resource potential of Australia’s sedimentary basins to support exploration investment ...Commonwealth of Australia (Geoscience Australia) +1 more

Facies analysis, as described in Chapter 4, begins with the art of interpreting single outcrops or, at most, small areas, such as a well-exposed cliff section. Paleogeographic analysis of an entire sedimentary basin requires the documentation of many such outcrops (or well sections), their correlation by stratigraphic methods (Chap.

During the first 30 years following Gilbert's explanation, offered in 1874, for the mountains of the Basin and Range province as dissected fault blocks, the evidence of their uplift on faults was physiographic in the sense of being dependent on facts of surface form; namely, a simple base line indifferent to the structure of a range-block along at ...

Mesozoic to Tertiary basins — inland basins
1985After the seas retreated from Africa at the end of the Carboniferous there was a long period of continental erosion and sedimentation. The products of this phase did not begin to accumulate to any significant extent until the later Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous.
