Buffer overflow calculations in a batch arrival queue
ACM SIGMETRICS Performance Evaluation Review, 2006In this paper numerical calculations of the buffer overflow time in a batch arrival queueing system are presented. The results indicate that an auto-correlated input stream, heavy-tailed batch size or service time distribution have a critical influence on the frequency of buffer overflows.

Delay in a Discrete-Time Queueing Model with Batch Arrivals and Batch Services
Fifth International Conference on Information Technology: New Generations (itng 2008), 2008During the past decades batch-service queueing models have been studied extensively, especially with regard to the system content. Some researchers have studied the distribution of the customer delay, but not in the case of batch arrivals, which is a non-trivial extension.

Manufacturing Systems with Batch Arrivals
2001In this chapter, we study an unreliable one-machine manufacturing system. The manufacturing system consists of one machine producing one type of product; see Fig. 5.1. The machine M 1 is unreliable and is subject to random breakdowns and repairs. Finished product is stored in the buffer B 1.

Server farms with batch arrival and staggered setup
Proceedings of the Fifth Symposium on Information and Communication Technology - SoICT '14, 2014Cloud computing is a new paradigm where a company makes money by selling computer resources including both software and hardware. The core part of cloud computing is a data center where a huge number of servers are available. These servers consume a large amount of energy to run and to keep cool.

A note on the conservation law for queues with batch arrivals
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1993The conservation law formula for work-conserving queues with batch arrivals is derived for when the arrival instants of customers are assumed to constitute an arrivals see time averages (ASTA) process. The derivation is based on the analysis of the corresponding first-in first-out (FIFO) multiclass queue and its steady state.

Some considerations on batch arrival and batch analysis in analytical laboratories
Analytica Chimica Acta, 1981Abstract The mean delay of analytical results is an important parameter in the performance of analytical laboratories. The modes of sample arrival and processing influence that delay. By the application of queueing theory and digital simulation, the effects of batch arrival and batch processing on the delay are estimated.

A conservation law for queueing systems with batch arrivals
J. Inf. Process. Cybern., 1987In this note a conservation law for the stationary mean waiting times of customers in a single server queueing system with batch arrivals is derived. Given examples of queueing systems show that the conservation law can serve as a useful tool for checking analytic and numerical computations.
