Adaptive Foam 3D Printing of Ultralight and Multifunctional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Adaptive foam 3D printing, enabled by expandable microspheres, imparts cellular structures to thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers, manufactured through a variety of processes including fused filament fabrication, direct ink writing, digital light processing, and inkjet printing.

Boat arrivals and boat ‘turnbacks’ in Australia since 1976: a quick guide to the statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Overview This quick guide provides statistics on the number of asylum seeker boats that have arrived in Australia since 1976 when the first wave of boats carrying people seeking asylum from the aftermath of the Vietnam War began to arrive.

Simulation of a new Pressure Swing Batch Distillation System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The operation and performance of a new pressure swing batch distillation configuration is investigated by rigorous simulation calculations. A maximum boiling point azeotrope is separated in a double column batch rectifier. We study the influence of the

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Optical buffers, batch arrivals and synchronization

open access: yes, 2006
— We present the analyis of a single-wavelength Fiber-Delay-Line buffer fed by a batch arrival process, and apply the results to study the influence of (internal) synchronization on performance.

Practical residue curve map analysis applied to solvent recovery in non-ideal binary mixtures by batch distillation processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Batch distillation inherent advantages has initiated recent search for process feasibility rules enabling the separation of azeotropic or difficult zeotropic binary mixtures thanks to the addition of an entrainer.

Endogenous FIFO-Batch Control for Dynamic Yard-to-Ferry Loading: A Deterministic Two-Stage Receding-Horizon Rollout

open access: yesMathematics
Dynamic roll-on/roll-off terminals require an executable decision between yard planning and vessel stowage: which yard lane to release, how many accessible vehicles to move, and which ferry lane to receive the ordered batch.

Enhancement of the Through‐Thickness Electrical Conductivity of Carbon‐Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Using Large Graphite Particles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance through‐thickness conductivity without sacrificing impregnation, large spherical graphite particles are intentionally employed in a low‐viscosity resin. Unlike finer conductive fillers, these particles remain outside the fiber bundles and accumulate in resin‐rich interlaminar regions during molding.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.
