Fracture Toughness of BaTiO3 and BaTiO3-Al2O3 Composite under Electric Field

In order to investigate the effect of electric polarization on fracture toughness of monolithic BaTiO3 and 5 mol% BaTiO3-Al2O3 composite (5B95A), indentation fracture tests were conducted on unpoled and poled samples under various applied electric fields.

Dislocations in BaTiO3 ceramics

Bulk dislocations in cubic and tetragonal BaTiO3 are analysed by TEM. Dislocations with Burgers vectors of the type b = a{100} lying along {010} directions are found in stoichiometric material whereas 72° dislocations are predominant in non stoichiometric material. Stacking faults (extended compositional defects in this structure) are observed on {100}

Abstract The value of the isoelectric point (IEP) of BaTiO 3 is highly significant for the development of a fully rational basis for the successful processing of BaTiO 3 powder by aqueous routes. We report here experimental evidence that the true IEP value for BaTiO 3 is in the neutral pH range (6–7).

Zusammenfassung Bei BaTiO 3 -Halbleitern wird eine hohe Druckabhangigkeit des Widerstandes gefunden. Aus dem Impedanzverhalten ergibt sich, dass dieser Piezowiderstandseffekt im wesentlichen in den Korngrenz-Sperrschichten lokalisiert ist, die auch fur den anomalen Widerstandsanstieg oberhalb der Curietemperatur massgebend sind.

Positron annihilation in BaTiO3

Abstract The spectra of positron lifetime and the Doppler-broadened annihilation gamma-line were measured for barium titanate monocrystals. In the polar and nonpolar phases the positrons are unable to form bound states like positronium in barium titanate.

Electroluminescence in ferroelectric BaTiO3

The luminescence emission during polarization reversal in pure BaTiO3 has been investigated. A parallel study of switching and emission light in the temperature range -100°C to 130°C, that contains the four crystallographic phases of the BaTiO3 has been carried out in polydomain and 180-domain samples.

Barium titanate have the valuable electrophisical properties but at heating in vacuum to 600??C BaTiO3 loses the oxygen and its properties varieties. It restricts using of standard metallization and brazing technologies for BaTiO3-ceramic so the technology of BaTiO3-ceramic metallization and soldering at lower temperatures was the aim of present study.

The complex research of the contact interaction and wetting of BaTiO3 - perovskite ceramics by metal melts is carried out. Two states of barium titanate were studied: 1. semiconducting BaTiO3???x - with oxygen defect. The experiments in vacuum for 13 pure metals and for Ti-containing alloys Cu???Sn???Ti, Cu???Ga???Ti and Ag???Cu???Ti are executed.
