Recently, studies have been conducted that long-term changes in shoreline position can be sufficiently interpreted using an ordinary differential equation that includes only erosion and recovery processes.

Beach profiles are constantly changing due to external ocean forces. Estimating these changes is crucial to understanding and addressing coastal erosion issues, such as shoreline advance and retreat. To estimate beach profile changes, obtaining long-term,

Beach slope is a critical parameter to, e.g., beach safety, wave reflection at the coast and longshore transport rate. However, it is usually considered as a time-invariant and profile-average parameter.

The response of Chudao’s beach to typhoon “Lekima” (No. 1909)
The response of beaches to typhoons has always been a hot topic at home and abroad. The study of beach changes during typhoons is helpful to deepen the understanding of beach evolution and is important for the coastal ecological environment. Based on the

Typhoons play an important role in beach evolution. The storm surge and large waves caused by typhoons can cause significant changes in beach morphology in a short period of time.

A Coupled Hydrodynamic-Equilibrium Type Beach Profile Evolution Model
An equilibrium beach profile model is developed and coupled with a parametric hydrodynamic model to provide feedback between the evolving morphology and the hydrodynamics.

BEACHES: PROFILES, PROCESSES AND PERMEABILITY [PDF]
Equilibrium beach profiles have been investigated in the laboratory for two beach materials, 0.22 mm marine sand and 1.55 mm crushed coal. Analysis of the results confirms that the dimensionless fall velocity H0/Tw is an important parameter influencing both surf zone hydraulics and the form of the resulting equilibrium profile.
