ARTIFICIAL MANIPULATION OF BEACH PROFILES
A field study was conducted at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (U.S.A.), to determine the response of natural beaches to artificial manipulation by sand scraping. Between March 1981 and May 1982, a total of 100,000 m3 of sand was shifted from the lower beach to the backbeach on three occasions over a R-km length of shoreline.

The use of video imagery to analyse groundwater and shoreline dynamics on a dissipative beach [PDF]
Groundwater seepage is known to influence beach erosion and accretion processes. However, field measurements of the variation of the groundwater seepage line (GWSL) and the vertical elevation difference between the GWSL and the shoreline are limited.

Similarity of Equilibrium Beach Profiles
In the design of mobile bed coastal models it is inherently assumed that prototype beach processes may be modelled using lightweight sediment. At the Queen's University Coastal Engineering Research Laboratory, a long range project is currently in progress to determine scaling laws and scale effect for mobile bed coastal models.

Caribbean Beach-Face Slopes and Beach Equilibrium Profiles
Field measurements performed on two Caribbean islands revealed that two-dimensional nearshore bottom morphology is well represented by Dean's (1977) model of the beach equilibrium profile, h - A xm, where h is depth below mean water level at a distance x offshore and A is a scale factor.

Optimization of beach profile spacing: an applicable tool for coastal monitoring
This paper presents a simplified and straightforward method for determining optimal beach profile spacing from an economic point of view with an admissible error.

Acceleration of Morphodynamic Simulations Based on Local Trends in the Bed Evolution
Due to the significant mismatch in timescales associated with morphological and hydrodynamic processes in coastal environments, modellers typically resort to various techniques for speeding up the bed evolution in morphodynamic simulations. In this paper,

Numerical simulation of wave-induced sandbar formation
A process-based numerical model is developed to simulate the formation of a sandbar beach profile, which includes a set of sub-models for wave, undertow, sediment transport, and bed evolution. The model is validated to simulate the transformation of a gently ...

An equilibrium profile model for tidal environments
During a full tidal cycle, the beach profile is exposed to continuously changing hydrodynamical conditions. Consequently, the profile evolves constantly to adapt to these changes.

Atlantic County - Little Egg Inlet to Great Egg Harbor Inlet - NJBPN Profile #'s 134-126
The spring and fall surveys of 2014 served to quantify the natural and human efforts to restore Atlantic County’s beaches to pre-Sandy conditions or in the case of existing federal shore protection projects, back to the design parameters.

How Effective Were the Beach Nourishments at Cancun?
Beach nourishment is generally seen as the preferred means of rectifying coastal erosion, due to its low environmental impact and natural evolution. The largest beach nourishment project ever carried out in Mexico took place on Cancun beach in 2006, as a
