Identifying key morphometrics to post-storm beach recovery through explainable AI

open access: yesScientific Reports
In the context of ongoing discussions about climate change, the focus on beach resilience has gained significant attention in contemporary studies.

Beach Profiles at Torrey Pines, California

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1976, 1976
Beach profiles have been measured at Torrey Pines Beach, California for four years and correlated with tides and accurate spectral estimates of the incident wave field. Characteristic equilibrium beach profiles persist for time spans of up to at least two weeks in response to periods of uniform incident waves.

Ocean County - Manasquan Inlet to Little Egg Inlet - NJBPN Profile #'s 156-234

open access: yes, 2015
Northern Ocean County experienced beach recovery approaching pre-Hurricane Sandy elevation or width, adding an average of 3.06 yds3/ft. in Northern Ocean County, but losing 15.79 yds3/ft. on average on Long Beach Island.

Beach and cliff retreat induced by storm groups at Forte Novo,Algarve (Portugal) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Littoral cell dynamics may change through time as a reaction to modifications of the coastal system. Along the Vilamoura-Quarteira coastline, the construction of a groin field limited the sediment supply to the already narrow Forte Novo beach, located ...

The Effect of Waves on the Profile of a Natural Beach

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1968, 1968
A 60-day field study was conducted on a selected natural beach in which the beach profile was measured daily and the waves incident upon the profile were recorded continuously. Beach and wave parameters derived from the field data were empirically combined to yield: (a) quantitative relationships between the change in the profile and the-average ...

Study of sediment transport by tsunami waves: Ⅴ: influence of mangrove

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2016
In recent years, frequent tsunami disasters have caused huge losses. Mangrove forests had significant effects to tsunami disaster mitigation. The laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the changes of crossshore beach profiles by the tsunami ...

Stochastic Analysis of Beach Profile Data

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1970, 1970
Stochastic prediction of beach changes by means of a linear leastsquares transfer function requires a knowledge of power spectra Since most field data are too short to ensure stable analysis, an attempt was made to generate data artifically by a Monte Carlo simulation A beach profile transition model which considers the beach profile as a dynamic ...

Stochastic beach profile modelling [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Seminar on Paste and Thickened Tailings, 2015
Modelling of a tailings beach using a time series of thickener output (flow rate and solids concentration) was first reported by Fitton et al. (2007). Seddon and Fitton (2011) presented statistical data on the performance of thickeners, and showed that the observed concave shape in tailings beaches could be adequately explained by this variability ...
