Interspecies Variation in NCMN-O-Demethylation in Liver Microsomes from Various Species

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
NCMN (N-(3-carboxy propyl)-4-methoxy-1,8-naphthalimide), a newly developed ratiometric two-photon fluorescent probe for human Cytochrome P450 1A (CYP1A), shows the best combination of specificity and reactivity for real-time detection of the enzymatic ...

Pharmacokinetic Profile of Idazoxan in the Beagle Dog

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1989
Abstract The α2-antagonist idazoxan (2- (2- (l,4-benzodioxanyl))-2-imidazoline) has been given intravenously and orally to five beagle dogs at 1, 3 and 10 mg kg−1 doses. Idazoxan plasma levels were determined by a HPLC method. After intravenous administration, a linear kinetic behaviour was obtained.

Effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation on physical activity and pain evaluation in osteoarthritic dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Osteoarthritis (OA) causes chronic pain and reduces welfare in dogs. Standard treatments may be inadequate or associated with adverse effects, prompting investigation of alternative therapies. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a non‐pharmacological pain management method, but evidence for its efficacy in canine ...

Shared struggles: Parallels in caregiver burden between canine and paediatric epilepsy

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Disease‐specific aspects of pet owners’ caregiver burden could be missed by generic burden measures. This study aimed to assess whether a framework developed to describe caregiver burden in parents of children with epilepsy was applicable to caregivers of dogs with epilepsy.

Oral non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs do not delay corneal healing in dogs with spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects: A retrospective cohort of 186 ulcers

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Oral non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used for analgesia in dogs with spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects (SCCEDs). Topical NSAIDs can delay epithelialisation and promote stromal melting, but the safety of systemic NSAIDs in SCCEDs is unknown.

Chromatin Accessibility Profiling of the Canine Brain Reveals Regulatory Programs Associated With Dog‐Wolf Divergence and Human Psychiatric Risk

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
The dog is a valuable model for studying social behavior and neuropsychiatric disease. We generated an ATAC‐seq atlas of 7 brain regions and pituitary from 4 beagles, identifying 251,492 CREs. Integrating dog‐wolf divergence revealed tissue‐specific CREs overlapping divergent loci, including neuronal and neuroendocrine genes.

Herb-drug interactions of silybinin and cilofexor in beagle dogs based on pharmacokinetics by UPLC-MS/MS

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Objective: A remarkably sensitive, accurate, and efficient ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) approach was developed as a facile and expeditious method for measuring cilofexor concentration in beagle dogs, the ...

Association of Lymphatic Fluid Volume in the Inner Ear of Beagle Dogs with the Susceptibility to Motion Sickness

open access: yes, 2022
BACKGROUND: This study aimed to quantify total lymphatic fluid spaces of the inner ears volumetrically in the dog in order to find a correlation between the lymphatic volume of the inner ears and motion sickness susceptibility.

Long‐term follow‐up and post‐operative computed tomography surveillance following adrenalectomy in dogs

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Adrenal gland tumours in dogs have historically been associated with a guarded prognosis due to reported high perioperative mortality, recurrence and metastatic disease. More recent studies suggest improved outcomes following adrenalectomy. This retrospective study evaluated long‐term outcomes and postoperative computed tomography (CT) findings in dogs

Dog-appeasing pheromone collars reduce sound-induced fear and anxiety in beagle dogs: a placebo-controlled study

open access: yesThe Veterinary Record, 2015
The objective of the study was to assess the effects of a dog-appeasing pheromone (DAP) collar in reducing sound-induced fear and anxiety in a laboratory model of thunderstorm simulation.
