A Technical Guide to Sampling the Beagle Dog Nervous System for General Toxicity and Neurotoxicity Studies

Toxicologic pathology (Print), 2022
Beagle dogs are a key nonrodent species in nonclinical safety evaluation of new biomedical products. The Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) has published “best practices” recommendations for nervous system sampling in nonrodents during general ...

Simultaneous determination of naproxen and esomeprazole in beagle dog plasma by supercritical fluid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry coupled with evaporation-free liquid-liquid extraction.

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2020
In order to avoid a risk of gastrointestinal toxic caused by naproxen (NAP), esomeprazole (ESOM) is generally used clinically in combination. The present work was undertaken to simultaneously determine NAP and ESOM in beagle dog plasma, and evaluated ...

Magnetic solid phase extraction followed with LC-MS/MS for determination of glimepiride in beagle dog plasma and its application to bioequivalence study.

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2020
In this study, the core-shell polydopamine-coated magnetic nanomaterials were synthesized with one-step approach and applied as magnetic solid phase extraction adsorbents combined with LCMS/MS for quantification of the diabetes drug glimepiride in beagle

Critical Peri-implant Buccal Bone Wall Thickness Revisited: An Experimental Study in the Beagle Dog.

The International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, 2019
PURPOSE There is a lack of knowledge concerning the critical buccal bone thickness required for securing favorable functional and esthetic outcomes, conditioned to the dimensional changes after implant placement. A preclinical study was therefore carried

Atorvastatin is not cataractogenic in beagle dogs

Current Eye Research, 1997
Atorvastatin (Lipitor) was developed as an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG CoA) reductase for treatment of serum lipid disorders. Other reductase inhibitors (RIs) induce cataracts in dogs exposed to relatively high levels of the drugs for extended periods of time.

Acclimation to heat of the beagle dog

International Journal of Biometeorology, 1970
Four beagle dogs showed evidence of heat acclimation (reduced post-exercise heart rate and body temperature) within 10 days of first exposure of one hour a day in a hot environment (38 ± 2°C). One hour of daily exercise (110 m/min, 0% grade) in the heat (as with human subjects) was adequate to produce the effects of heat acclimation.

Effects of ovariectomy in beagle dogs

Bone, 1987
Beagle dogs 3-7 years old were ovariectomized (n = 9) or sham operated (n = 6) and followed for 48 weeks with measurements of body weight, tibial shaft bone mineral content (BMC), and serum biochemistry. Following killing, measurements were made of bone strength and histomorphometry.

Semen evaluation in the Beagle dog

Journal of Small Animal Practice, 1971
ABSTRACTUsing standard techniques, semen was collected from six normal Beagles, aged 1–2 years, at monthly intervals on seven occasions. The mean value of ejaculate was 3.1 ml, and the mean sperm count was 47.7 million/ml. Libido was maintained over the experimental period and the results were consistent throughout.Résumé.
