Interferometric scanning of laser beams
Optics Communications, 1976Abstract A new beam deflection technique is based on modulating the optical transmission characteristics of a modified Fabry-Perot interferometer. Electro-optically changing the interferometer length leads to fast high resolution scanning of the transmission fringe.

Publisher Summary This chapter provides an overview of electron beam scanning. A considerable advance in electron-tube design was made in the development of the all-electrostatic vidicon, and in the subsequent variations of its electron beam system for smaller vidicon and the printicon.

Beam Scanning Metasurface Antennas
2018 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation & USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting, 2018Metasurface (MTS)antennas have been shown to be a versatile class of planar antenna. In particular, they allow for beam shaping and pattern control through the modulation of the boundary conditions, while keeping unchanged the overall antenna structure. This feature makes them suitable for dynamic reconfiguration.

X-Ray Imaging with a Scanning Beam
Radiology, 1975An x-ray imaging system that makes use of a rapidly scanning pencil beam of x rays to acquire images of any part of the body has been developed. The system is capable of generating and displaying images in 15 seconds, using extremely low radiation exposures.

We report on a conceptual design and feasibility demonstration for a scanned beam endoscope, with advantages over present CCD imaging technology in image resolution and quality, light source power, and package diameter. Theoretical calculations were made by optical modeling and finite element analysis of the performance projected for a design meeting ...

Electronic Beam Scanning of Injection Lasers
Journal of Applied Physics, 1966Experiments are described that resulted in the spatial scanning of the coherent emission of a GaAs junction laser at 77°K. By electrically separating the p side of the junction into several sections the current distribution is deliberately made nonuniform.

Beam scanning for dose uniformity
Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 1995A low max/min ratio of absorbed dose is a prime objective in any industrial irradiation process. The IMPELA® electron beam irradiator has been further developed to deliver a beam distribution that can be tailored to match the required dose uniformity for specific products and applications.

Wideband and beam-scanning reflectarrays
2015 International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT), 2015Reflectarray antenna attracts growing interests in the last decades. This paper presents some recent developments on reflectarray antennas, namely, a broadband reflectarray antenna and a beam-scanning reflectarray antenna. They demonstrate great potential in satellite communications, remote sensing, and radar applications.
