Birefringent polarization-independent beam splitter

Applied Optics, 1979
By adjusting both the thickness and angle of the incidence of a birefringent channeled spectrum plate, the extraordinary and ordinary reflectivities can be equalized, thereby providing a polarization-independent beam splitter.

Adjustable laser beam splitter

Optics Communications, 1985
Abstract An adjustable laser beam splitter consisting of a quartz cube polished on four sides is described. When an edge of the cube is partially inserted into the laser beam, the deflected beam is perpendicular to the incident beam and its intensity can be continuously adjusted by varying the insertion depth.

Reflection beam splitter for multilevel atoms

Physical Review A, 1993
We propose a beam splitter for atomic de Broglie waves combining atomic reflection from an evanescent laser wave with induced transitions between ground-state sublevels in a homogeneous magnetic field. An inelastic change of Zeeman energy during the reflection results in an angular separation of the outgoing partial beams. By choosing suitable relative

Realization of Photoresponsive Diffractive Beam Splitters

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2011
We report on the realization of a light beam splitting effect based on a light sensitive diffractive structure. The periodic structure is realized in soft composite materials doped with an high performance light sensitive Liquid Crystal. The capability of the structure as tunable beam splitter, is monitored by combining its zero and first diffracted ...

Polarization-independent beam splitter

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1983
We report a new type of beam splitter capable of producing a division of light in a polarization-independent manner. Most off-axis beam splitters have a pronounced polarization dependence. An experimental device with a splitting ratio of about 7 dB varied less than ±0.1 dB as a function of incident linear polarization.

Polarizing binary diffraction grating beam splitter

Optics Letters, 2004
We report a polarizing beam splitter that uses binary phase gratings written onto a liquid-crystal spatial light modulator. These gratings produce several linearly polarized diffracted orders and a zeroth-order beam whose polarization state can be completely controlled. Experimental results are shown.

Compact terahertz wave polarizing beam splitter

Applied Optics, 2010
We designed a compact terahertz (THz) wave polarizing beam splitter based on a periodic bilayer structure, which operates over a wide THz wavelength range. Within a short length (about 1 mm), this polarizing beam splitter separates THz wave TE- and TM-polarized modes into orthogonal output waveguides.

Beam splitters for dye laser pumping

Applied Optics, 1980
Problems associated with the development of beam splitters for partitioning pump beams for pulsed dye laser systems are discussed. The operating characteristics of two types of splitters are calculated: a wedge type beam splitter and a constant-deviation prism type beam splitter.
