A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Beam Steering with Linear Arrays
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1983The principles and techniques of real-time imaging with phased array ultrasound scanners are reviewed. Topics include 1) the geometric optics of beam steering and focusing with a linear array in the transmit and receive modes; 2) limitations on image data acquisition due to ultrasound propagation velocity; 3) optical diffraction theory for linear ...

2017 International Conference on Innovations in Information, Embedded and Communication Systems (ICIIECS), 2017
In this paper, we have presented the process of beam steering and its advantages. Nowadays compact sized low profile antennas with planer structures and low fabrication cost have become essential. Therefore the antennas need to have enhanced gain and steerable radiation patterns. Therefore, beam steerable antennas have become very popular in modern day

Dynamic Beam Steering With Reconfigurable Metagratings
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2020Metagratings have recently shown promising features for wavefront manipulation, overcoming the efficiency limitations of gradient metasurfaces and their demanding fabrication requirements. Extreme functionalities, such as perfect anomalous reflection and refraction, focusing, and holography, have been proposed and tested. However, most of the developed
