Simulating oblique incident irradiation using the BEAMnrc Monte Carlo code

open access: yesPhysics in Medicine and Biology, 2009
A new source for the simulation of oblique incident irradiation has been developed for the BEAMnrc Monte Carlo code. In this work, we describe a method for the simulation of any component that is rotated at some angle relative to the central axis of the modelled radiation unit.

SU‐FF‐I‐25: Feasibility of Estimating Multidetector CT Dose Using BEAMnrc Code

open access: yesMedical Physics, 2007
Purpose: Most of Monte Carlo based methods estimating radiation dose in computed tomography (CT) were performed using MCNP or EGS codes. The BEAMnrc code, one of Monte Carlo codes, was usually used to simulate radiation therapy accelerators, and has fine graphic interfaces and various component modules.

Photon beam softening coefficients evaluation for a 6 MeV photon beam for an aluminum slab: Monte Carlo study using BEAMnrc Code, DOSXYZnrc Code, and BEAMDP code

Moscow University Physics Bulletin (English Translation of Vestnik Moskovskogo Universiteta, Fizika), 2017
Determination and understanding the photon beam attenuation by the photon beam modifier and the radiation beam softening for clinical use is more important part of material study for the beam modifier enhancements and the linac improvements. A Monte Carlo model was used to simulate 6 MeV photon beams from a Varian Clinac 2100 accelerator with the ...

Monte Carlo simulation of Varian Linac for 6 MV photon beam with BEAMnrc code

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2018
Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the initial electron beam parameters on the absorbed dose distribution calculated with EGSnrc Monte Carlo code, for 6 MV photon beam. A proposed methodology for benchmarking the BEAMnrc model of Varian Linac has been used.

VMC versus BEAMnrc: A comparison of simulated linear accelerator heads for photon beams

open access: yesMedical Physics, 2008
BEAMnrc, a code for simulating medical linear accelerators based on EGSnrc, has been bench-marked and used extensively in the scientific literature and is therefore often considered to be the gold standard for Monte Carlo simulations for radiotherapy ...

Evaluation of a commercial VMC++ Monte Carlo based treatment planning system for electron beams using EGSnrc/BEAMnrc simulations and measurements

open access: yesPhysica Medica, 2009
In the present work, Monte Carlo (MC) models of electron beams (energies 4, 12 and 18MeV) from an Elekta SL25 medical linear accelerator were simulated using EGSnrc/BEAMnrc user code.
