Study of the dosimetric properties of an unflattened 6-MV photon beam by using the BEAMnrc code
Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 2016This study investigated the basic dosimetric properties of a Flattening-filter-free 6-MV photon beam based on the unique performance model of the Varian Clinic 600 linac operated with and without a flattening filter. Dosimetric features, including the central-axis absorbed dose, the beam profiles and the photon and electron fluences were calculated for

SU-E-T-33: Prediction of Exit Dose Images Using XVMC and BEAMnrc Monte Carlo Code
Medical Physics, 2012Purpose: It has been evaluated that XVMC and BEAMnrc codes are suitable for dose calculation in patient. However, required accuracy of the codes at extended distance under scattering media is challenging. Furthermore, there is a growing importance of dose validation of complicated radiation therapy by exit dosimetry and dose reconstruction.

Purpose: Understanding the limitation of the Monte Carlo codes is essential in order to avoid systematic errors in simulations, and to suggest further improvement of the codes. The purpose of this study was to simulate the treatment head of Elekta (Synergy™) linear accelerator with two different Monte Carlo codes called MCNP4C and BEAMnrc and compare ...

Purpose: Most of Monte Carlo based methods to estimate radiation dose in computed tomography (CT) were performed using MCNP or EGS codes. However, They can't really simulate the CT source, such as the x‐ray tube and the bowtie filter. The purpose of this study is to verify the feasibility of using BEAMnrc/DOSXYZnrc code to develop a real multidetector ...

SU-E-J-21: Verification of a Monte Carlo Model of CBCT Flat Panel Detector Using BEAMnrc/EGSnrc Code
Medical Physics, 2011Purpose: Cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) provides wide scan coverage per rotation; however, its image quality is compromised due to large amounts of scatter. In this study, we performed detailed Monte Carlo(MC) simulations of a CBCT flat panel detector to characterize scatter for the purposes of scatter correction.

The energy dependence of the radiochromic film (RCF) response to beta-emitting sources was studied by dose theoretical calculations, employing the MCNP4C and EGSnrc/BEAMnrc Monte Carlo codes. Irradiations with virtual monochromatic electron sources, electron and photon clinical beams, a (32)P intravascular brachytherapy (IVB) source and other beta ...

Introduction: Previous studies have shown that a Monte Carlo method for the transportations photon beam in medical linear accelerator is a good way. Strip of simulation can be used to measure the dose distribution in phantoms and patients' body. EGSnrc Code is the only code written for use in the field of radiation therapy that has many subset codes ...
