Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

KINEMATICS AND DYNAMICS MODELS OF CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARING OF RAILWAY TRANSPORT

open access: yesNauka ta progres transportu, 2014
Purpose. Lack of kinematics models and imperfection of the known dynamics models of the roller bearings of railway rolling stock axle-boxes do not allow designing the optimal structure of bearing cages, providing the required service life and reliability

Modelling of the Bearing Breakdown Resistance in Bearing Currents Problem of AC Motors

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
With the wide application of pulse width modulation (PWM) technology in motor driving, the bearing current problem has become more and more severe. The most complicated problem in analyzing bearing currents is modeling the equivalent circuit of the ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Multi-Time Scale Modeling Strategy for Bearing Life Prognosis

open access: yes, 2009
Prediction of a bearing service life is traditionally achieved by empirical or physical models, which have their own strengths and limitations. In an effort to combine the strengths of these modeling approaches, this research investigates the concept of ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

A New Repulsive Type Magnetic Bearing: Modeling and Control

open access: yes, 1997
This paper reports on the development of a new repulsive type magnetic bearing system whose radial bearing section makes good utilization of the repulsive forces between stator and rotor permanent magnets resulting a simplified axial control scheme.
