Potential of Beauveria bassiana in the control of Euschistus crenator (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and selectivity to the parasitoid Telenomus podisi (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae). [PDF]
Entomopathogenic fungi effectively suppressed the emerging soybean pest Euschistus crenator, with isolates LCMAP106, UFSM‐01 and a commercial bioinsecticide achieving the highest mortality. These agents did not reduce parasitism or survival of the egg parasitoid Telenomus podisi, highlighting their potential for integration into environmentally ...

Pyrethroid resistance in
Background Entomopathogenic fungi are being investigated as a new mosquito control tool because insecticide resistance is preventing successful mosquito control in many countries, and new methods are required that can target insecticide-resistant malaria

Real-time quantitative PCR for analysis of candidate fungal biopesticides against malaria: Technique validation and first applications [PDF]
Recent research has indicated that fungal biopesticides could augment existing malaria vector control tools. Here we present a set of methodologies to monitor the in vivo kinetics of entomopathogenic fungi in Anopheles in the presence or absence of ...

Synergy in efficacy of fungal entomopathogens and permethrin against West African insecticide-resistant Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Increasing incidences of insecticide resistance in malaria vectors are threatening the sustainable use of contemporary chemical vector control measures.

The influence of tin ions on growth and enzymatic activity of entomopathogenic fungi
In this in vitro study, the influence of tin ions at concentrations of 1–1,000 ppm on the development and enzymatic activity of four entomopathogenic fungi (Beauveria bassiana, B.

Tools for delivering entomopathogenic fungi to malaria mosquitoes: effects of delivery surfaces on fungal efficacy and persistence. [PDF]
BACKGROUND\ud \ud Entomopathogenic fungi infection on malaria vectors increases daily mortality rates and thus represents a control measure that could be used in integrated programmes alongside insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs) and indoor residual ...

Fungal entomopathogens: new insights on their ecology [PDF]
An important mechanism for insect pest control should be the use of fungal entomopathogens. Even though these organisms have been studied for more than 100 y, their effective use in the field remains elusive.

Transformation of cinoxacin byBeauveria bassiana [PDF]
The ability of the fungus Beauveria bassiana ATCC 7159 to transform the antibacterial agent cinoxacin was investigated. Cultures in sucrose-peptone broth were dosed with cinoxacin, grown for 20 days, and then extracted with ethyl acetate. Two metabolites were detected and purified by high-performance liquid chromatography.

The infectivity of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana to insecticide-resistant and susceptible Anopheles arabiensis mosquitoes at two different temperatures [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Control of the major African malaria vector species continues to rely extensively on the application of residual insecticides through indoor house spraying or bed net impregnation.
