Approaching Gold‐Standard Sensitivity in a Portable and Versatile Gold Nanoprisms Thermoplasmonic Platform for Lateral Flow Detection of Biomolecules

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents a plasmonic thermal lateral flow (ThermoLFA) biosensor for ultrasensitive, early detection of biomolecules. By combining plasmonic gold nanoprisms (AuNPrs) and near‐infrared (NIR) laser activation, it enhances signal output beyond conventional LFAs.

Macroscopic Convective Fluid Flows Arising From Binding of Ions and Small Molecules to Proteins

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The interaction of ions or small molecules with proteins causes convective flows due to the displacement of water from the hydration shell. As shown, the replacement of the nickel ion removed from urease by EDTA pre‐treatment results in binding‐induced convective fluid flow.

Accurate Sizing and Resolution of Nominal 200 nm Diameter Polystyrene Nanospheres With Charge Detection Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study highlights the utility of charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS) as a high‐throughput nanoparticle characterization tool. CDMS measurements of 200 nm polystyrene size standards are within 1% of those derived from transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Notably, a mixture of three ∼200 nm samples is readily resolved by CDMS but not by TEM,

Large‐Scale MXene Membrane Fabrication via Nonsolvent Phase Separation

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over the past decade, 2D MXenes have garnered tremendous attention for membrane applications owing to their exceptional hydrophilicity, tunable surface chemistry, and antifouling properties. However, translating MXene‐based membranes from laboratory demonstrations to practically relevant manufacturing remains challenging because scalable ...

Integration of Micro‐CT and XRF Mapping for Multimodal 3D Analysis of Polychrome Wooden Artifacts

open access: yesX-Ray Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over the past 5 years, computer applications have become crucial to archeological research. Since the 1990s, the focus has transitioned from data management tools to the development of virtual models. Recently, digital documentation of cultural heritage has gained considerable focus, with 3D modeling of objects.
