Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Shear modules of claysand mixtures using bender element test

Na glineno peščenih mešanicah so bili izvedeni preizkusi z benderjevim elementom (BE). Z njimi se je raziskalo spreminjanje strižnega modula majhnih deformacij (Gmax) v odvisnosti od vsebnosti peska in fizikalnih karakteristik zrn peskov (velikosti, oblike) v preiskovanih mešanicah. Tri različne granulacije peskov (0.6-0.3 mm, 1.0-0.6 mm in 2.0-1.0 mm)

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Ionomycin suppresses cancer cell growth by disrupting mitochondrial transcription

In this study, we identify a new function for the selective Ca2+ ionophore, ionomycin, as an inhibitor of mitochondrial transcription. Both total and nascent RNA analyses revealed that ionomycin treatment reduces the transcription of mitochondrial genes.
