Studies on a Piezoelectric Cylindrical Transducer for Borehole Dipole Acoustic Measurements
In this article, a novel design of a piezoelectric dipole transducer is proposed for formation acoustic velocity measurement in the vicinity of a borehole with a frequency range of 0.4–6 kHz.

Kaon-Nucleon Scattering Amplitudes and Z$^*$-Enhancements from Quark Born Diagrams [PDF]
We derive closed form kaon-nucleon scattering amplitudes using the ``quark Born diagram" formalism, which describes the scattering as a single interaction (here the OGE spin-spin term) followed by quark line rearrangement.

Application of wavelet analysis in tool wear evaluation using image processing method [PDF]
Tool wear plays a significant role for proper planning and control of machining parameters to maintain the product quality. However, existing tool wear monitoring methods using sensor signals still have limitations.

Analysis of Bender Element signals during triaxial testing

Geometric Optimisation of Hinge-less Deployment System for an Active Rotorblade [PDF]
The Green Rotorcraft project (part of Clean Sky JTI) is\ud studying the Gurney flap as a demonstrator of a smart adaptive\ud rotorblade. Deployment systems for the Gurney flap need to\ud sustain large centrifugal loads and vibrations while maintaining ...

EVALUATION OF DEFORMATION CHARACTERISTICS OF SOIL BY BENDER ELEMENT TEST

The epochs of early-type galaxy formation as a function of environment [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to set constraints of the epochs of early-type galaxy formation through the 'archaeology' of the stellar populations in local galaxies.

Local Stiffness Assessment of Geogrid-Stabilized Unbound Aggregates in a Large-Scale Testbed
This paper integrates and extends an earlier article presented at the 20th International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. The generation of a stiffened zone in the proximity of a geogrid is one of the primary mechanisms of ...

Balmer and Metal Absorption Feature Gradients in M32 [PDF]
Spectra from MDM Observatory are used to assess Lick/IDS feature strength gradients inside the half-light radius of the compact Local Group elliptical galaxy M32. All but a few (of 24 measured) indices show a statistically significant gradient. Comparing
