Low loss modified Bezier bend waveguide
We proposed and experimentally demonstrated a low loss modified Bezier bend for silicon and silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits. Both simulation and experimental results confirm that the modified Bezier bend can effectively reduce the bend loss for silicon and silicon nitride platform.

Theoretical Analysis of Temperature-corrected Single-mode Fiber Macro-bending Loss Characteristics
In order to study the relationship between the macro-bending loss characteristics of the single-mode fiber and the temperature change, the thermo-optical effect and thermal expansion effect are corrected according to the theoretical formula proposed by ...

Highly Birefringent, Low Flattened Dispersion Photonic Crystal Fiber in the Terahertz Region
High-performance photonic crystal fiber (PCF) has an important impact on the development of the full potential of complex terahertz systems. A new kind of PCF with D-shaped air holes in core region was proposed for terahertz (THz) region.

Resonant bend loss in leakage channel fibers [PDF]
Leakage channel fibers, designed to suppress higher-order modes, demonstrate resonant power loss at certain critical radii of curvature. Outside the resonance, the power recovers to the levels offset by the usual mechanism of bend-induced loss. Using C$^2$-imaging, we experimentally characterize this anomaly and identify the corresponding physical ...

Design of bent photonic crystal fiber supporting a single polarization [PDF]
In this work, it is shown that the differential loss between the TE- and TM-polarized fundamental modes in a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber (PCF) can be enhanced by bending the fiber.

The Interfacial Friction Loss of Prestressed Carbon-Fiber Tendons in a Bending State
Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is ideal for bridge reinforcement due to its high strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance. Studies on the friction loss of CFRP tendons in a bending state form an important part of advancing the application

Consistency aspects of out-of-plane bending, torsion and shear in a quadratic curved beam element [PDF]
Curved beams in civil engineering applications call for out-of-plane bending and torsion under the action of13; out-of-plane transverse shear loads. The design of a quadratic displacement curved beam element capable of13; representing shear deformation ...
