STUDY ON FIRE RESISTANCE OF REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB UNDER THE POSITIVE BENDING MOMENT

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering (Transactions of AIJ), 2008
This paper describes experimental and analytical studies on the fire resistance of a reinforced concrete slab under the positive bending moment. As the result of fire resistance tests, it became clear that a top reinforcement influences greatly the fire resistance of a reinforced concrete slab.

Resistant bending moment to lateral-torsional buckling of continuous steel and concrete composite beams with transverse stiffeners [PDF]

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2021
Abstract In this paper, a numerical analysis using the finite element method, employing the commercial code Ansys, is performed to evaluate the influence of transverse stiffeners welded to the web of the steel profile on the lateral stiffness and resistant bending moment of continuous steel and concrete composite beams subjected to lateral-torsional ...

Effect of bending velocity on time-dependent release behavior of creased white-coated paperboard

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2016
This work deals with time-dependent creasing characteristics of coated paperboard. The knowledge of dynamic bending moment (resistance) acting on a hinge which is folded onto a creased line, is important in order to adjust a few of boxing condition.

Bending Resistance and Chemically Induced Moments in Membrane Bilayers

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1974
Pure bending of a membrane bilayer is developed including different properties for each membrane half. Both connected and unconnected bilayer surfaces are treated. The bilayer bending resistance is the resultant of parallel surface compression "resistances." The neutral surface is a function of the upper and lower surface compressibility moduli and ...

Analysis on the hull girder ultimate strength of a bulk carrier using simplified method based on an incremental-iterative approach

open access: yes, 2008
The hull girder ultimate strength of a typical bulk carrier is analyzed using a simplified method based on an incremental-iterative approach. First, vertical bending moment is examined by seven different methods.

Analysis of Mechanical Behavior of Different Needle Tip Shapes During Puncture of Carbon Fiber Fabric

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2021
In the present study, the fiber-bending around the needle during the piercing process of the carbon fabric is investigated. In this regard, a mathematical model is established to investigate the bending elongation of the carbon fiber around the needle ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
