Changes in forefoot bending stiffness have been shown to affect metatarsophalangeal peak bending angles as well as athletic performance. Increasing bending stiffness tends to reduce peak bending angles, which could potentially reduce hyperextension injuries such as turf toe.

Bending Performance of a Dense Waveguide Superlattice
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2016Waveguide superlattices are recently introduced for dense space-division multiplexing and high-density waveguide integration. Here we show that in presence of bending, properly designed waveguide superlattices retain low crosstalk at 1μm pitch and 20μm radius.

Bending creep performance of modified timber
Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 2007The present study is a supplement to Epmeier and Kliger (2005), which investigated the effect of three different modification methods (acetylation, modification with methylated melamine resin and heat treatment in vegetable oil) on four material properties (density, modulus of elasticity (MOE), creep deflection and relative creep) and their inter ...

Effect of a Bend on the Performance of an Oblong Ejector
Volume 6: Turbo Expo 2007, Parts A and B, 2007This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the performance of oblong ejectors with a bend in the mixing tube. In the aerospace industry, space limitations can lead to the design of exhaust ducts of oblong cross section. These ducts can also include ejectors for engine space ventilation or exhaust cooling or infrared signature ...

Investigation on the Performance of Forward Bending Fan
International Journal of Turbo & Jet-Engines, 2019Abstract The forward bending centrifugal fan features long vanes and narrow passages, and the internal flow is apt to be affected by wall boundary layer of the blade surfaces. An aerodynamic investigation on the forward bending centrifugal fan is presented in this paper. The performances of the unsteady flow field in the centrifugal fan is predicted by

Enhanced Performance of Piezoelectric Bending Actuator by Material Redistribution
2020 International Symposium on Devices, Circuits and Systems (ISDCS), 2020This paper presents a design of a piezoelectric bending actuator to achieve enhanced performance by redistributing its piezoelectric material. The performance of the present design has been evaluated by using commercial finite element package. The result reveals that the tip deflection, block force, output energy, output energy density and energy ...
