Surprising Hofmeister Effects on the Bending Vibration of Water

ChemPhysChem, 2016
AbstractThe Hofmeister series, which originally described the specific ion effects on the solubility of macromolecules in aqueous solutions, has been a long‐standing unsolved and exceptionally challenging mystery in chemistry. The complexity of specific ion effects has prevented a unified theory from emerging.

Vibration of elevator cables with small bending stiffness

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2002
The effects of bending stiffness and boundary conditions on the lateral vibration of the stationary and moving hoist cables are investigated. The role of the trial functions in the approximate methods is examined. The optimal stiffness and damping coefficient of the suspension of the car against its guide rails are identified for the moving cable.

A Two-DOF Ultrasonic Motor Based on Longitudinal and Bending-Bending Vibrations for Manipulator

2021
A novel two-DOF ultrasonic motor based on longitudinal and bending-bending vibrations was introduced in this paper. This proposed two-DOF ultrasonic motor is potential in driving the hyper-redundant manipulator, which would significantly decrease the number of the driving motor, thus reduces the cost of the manipulator.

Coupled Bending–Bending–Axial–Torsional Vibrations of Rotating Blades

Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, 2019
In this paper, the coupled bending–bending–axial–torsional free vibrations of rotating blades are investigated based on the Euler–Bernoulli beam model. The coupled partial differential equations governing flapwise, edgewise, axial and torsional motions are derived by the Hamilton’s principle, wherein three types of velocity-dependent terms, namely ...

The Coupled Bending—Bending Vibration of Pre-Twisted Tapered Blading

Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1972
The work of this paper deals with the coupled bending–bending vibration of pre-twisted tapered cantilever blades. The equations of motion are established for a beam tapered in width (or depth) only and for a blade tapered in both width and depth.

Isolation of Bending Vibration in a Beam Structure with a Translational Vibration Absorber and a Rotational Vibration Absorber

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2008
One drawback of the traditional dynamic vibration absorber is that it can only absorb the vibration of a continuous structure such as a beam at the point to which it is attached. In this article, it is proved that if damping in a vibrating beam structure is negligible, a translational dynamic absorber used in combination with a rotational dynamic ...

Bending Vibration of a Rotating Blade Vibrating in the Plane of Rotation

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1949
Abstract An analysis is developed for the uncoupled bending vibration of a rotating blade which is vibrating in the plane of rotation. The numerical method used permits the determination of any mode of vibration by a series of tabular calculations.

A Nonlinear Problem in the Bending Vibration of a Rotating Beam

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1952
Abstract The problem of bending vibration of a rotating beam is a nonlinear one when the vibration takes place in a plane not perpendicular to the plane of rotation. The nonlinear term arises from the Coriolis acceleration. From the nonlinear equation established, it is found that the existence of periodic solutions depends on the ...

Nonlinear bending inertia of a vibrating beam
