A Review of Posteromedial Lesions of the Chest Wall: What Should a Chest Radiologist Know?

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
A heterogeneous group of tumors can affect the posteromedial chest wall. They form diverse groups of benign and malignant (primary or secondary) pathologies that can arise from different chest wall structures, i.e., fat, muscular, vascular, osseous, or ...

Inpatient Food Insecurity and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Hospitalization Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children with cancer and blood disorders are at risk for food insecurity (FI). We aimed to describe the association of inpatient food insecurity (IFI) and hospitalization outcomes among patients admitted to the pediatric hematology oncology service. Of 325 caregivers screened for IFI, 60 (18.6%) screened positive.

Retroperitoneal Lipoblastoma-A Rare Entity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2018
Lipoblastomas are uncommon tumours which can achieve enormous size and volumes occurring in young paediatric population predominantly. Retroperitoneal locations of these tumours are very rare and only a few cases have been noted in the literature.

Curve-Based Classification Approach for Hyperspectral Dermatologic Data Processing

open access: yesSensors, 2021
This paper shows new contributions in the detection of skin cancer, where we present the use of a customized hyperspectral system that captures images in the spectral range from 450 to 950 nm.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Functional characterization of a nanobody-based glycoprotein VI-specific platelet agonist

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Background: Glycoprotein (GP)VI is a platelet-specific collagen receptor required for platelet activation during hemostasis. Platelet reactivity toward collagen is routinely assessed during diagnostic workup of platelet disorders.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

An Efficient Automatic Mass Classification Method In Digitized Mammograms Using Artificial Neural Network

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we present an efficient computer aided mass classification method in digitized mammograms using Artificial Neural Network (ANN), which performs benign-malignant classification on region of interest (ROI) that contains mass. One of the major
