Wine Fining with Plant Proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
: Fining treatments involve the addition of a substance or a mixture to wine, and are generally carried out in order to clarify, stabilize or modify the wine\u2019s organoleptic characteristics. Usually these fining agents will bind the target compound(s)

Spatial Variability of Permafrost and Active Layer Thickness in a Forested Hillslope of the Taiga Shield

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Under continued climate warming, understanding present‐day permafrost distribution and the controls on ground thaw are critical for predicting permafrost thaw trajectories and associated implications. This study presents a high‐resolution investigation of permafrost extent and active layer thickness (ALT) across a coniferous forested hillslope

Local salt purification in Aceh Timur regency using alkaline (KOH and NaOH) activated bentonite [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly
Various purification methods have been developed to improve local salt quality, with the NaCl content above 94%. Bentonite is one of the materials used as binder impurities in purification.

Image analysis procedure for studying Back-Diffusion phenomena from low-permeability layers in laboratory tests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this study, the long-term tailing derived from the storage process of contaminants in low-permeability zones is investigated. The release from these areas in the groundwater can be considered a long-term source that often undermines remediation ...

Acid Resistant and Highly Silver Selective Membranes Based on Charged Nanoporous 2D‐Materials

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
In this work, new membranes based on charged & nanoporous nanosheets with unprecedented selectivity to silver versus a wide range of other metallic ions are reported. Furthermore, a demonstrated and lead specific intralamellar lead pathway is demonstrated. A potential applicability for ubiquitous silver in WEEE is validated.

Reviews on the Properties of Aggregates made with or without Geopolymerisation Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aggregates are popular for use in concrete and lightweight concrete applications. Recent research shows that the by-product materials such as fly ash can be used as raw material in producing aggregates and lightweight aggregates.

Sequential Reduction of Chromite Pellets Using Hydrogen and Silicon Carbide for Carbon Emission Abatement During Ferrochrome Production

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
H2 prereduction selectively metallizes Fe in UG2 chromite pellets at 1100°C, while silicon carbide becomes active at 1300°C to convert remaining Cr2O3 to carbides and promote Cr metallization. By separating the roles of H2 and SiC, the sequential route reaches up to 65.7% Cr metallization and suppresses in‐furnace CO generation by ≈75% versus ...

Modelling the thermo-mechanical volume change behaviour of compacted expansive clays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Compacted expansive clays are often considered as a possible buffer material in high-level deep radioactive waste disposals. After the installation of waste canisters, the engineered clay barriers are subjected to thermo-hydro-mechanical actions in the ...
