Organocatalytic Acetalization of Aldehydes Utilizing N‐Heterocyclic Iod(az)olium Salts as the Halogen‐Bonding Catalysts

A mild and organocatalytic protocol for the acetalization of aldehydes is demonstrated, employing iod(az)olium salts as the halogen‐bonding catalysts. Combined computational and experimental studies helped us identify the optimum catalyst to promote the reaction.
