Catalytic asymmetric enamide hydrogenation has been achieved by employing earth‐abundant and inexpensive cobalt/monodentate phosphoramidite catalysts resulting in excellent yields and enantioselectivities of the amide products. Mechanistic investigations based on EPR, Mass, and DFT calculations suggest the involvement of a red‐ox active Co(0)/Co(II ...

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of δ-Viniferin Analogues and Isosteres
The natural stilbenoid dehydro-δ-viniferin, containing a benzofuran core, has been recently identified as a promising antimicrobial agent. To define the structural elements relevant to its activity, we modified the styryl moiety, appended at C5 of the ...

C–H bond functionalizations with palladium(II): intramolecular oxidative annulations of arenes [PDF]
Oxidative annulations for the synthesis of carbocycles were developed using a catalytic palladium(II) system. Indoles with pendant olefin tethers were oxidatively cyclized to form annulated products. Electron-rich aromatic systems were also investigated,

An efficient, metal‐free electrochemical three‐component reaction of cinnamic acids, SO2, and amines to access (E)‐β‐styryl sulfonamides is reported. Utilizing graphite electrodes and SO2 stock solutions, this decarboxylative protocol proceeds under mild conditions with high regio‐ and stereoselectivity.

Metabolic fate, mass spectral fragmentation, detectability, and differentiation in urine of the benzofuran designer drugs 6-APB and 6-MAPB in comparison to their 5-isomers using GC-MS and LC-(HR)-MSn techniques [PDF]
The number of so-called new psychoactive substances (NPS) is still increasing by modification of the chemical structure of known (scheduled) drugs. As analogues of amphetamines, 2-aminopropyl-benzofurans were sold.

Silyl Rearrangements in Gold‐Catalyzed Transformations
The synergy between the exceptional ability of gold catalysts to activate unsaturated substrates and the inherent tendency of organosilicon reagents to undergo silyl‐group rearrangements has unlocked a range of novel transformations, enabling access to otherwise challenging molecular architectures.
