New benzopyrans: Anticonvulsant activities
Life Sciences, 1975Three new analogs of dimethylheptylpyran (DMHP) (SP-141, SP-143, and SP-175) were found to exhibit significant anticonvulsant activity against audiogenic, supramaximal electroshock, and maximal pentylentetrazol induced seizures in mice. In rats, all three compounds were found to be more active than diphenylhydantoin in the supramaximal electroshock ...

Benzopyrans from Hypericum polyanthemum
Phytochemistry, 2001From the aerial parts of Hypericum polyanthemum Klotzsch ex Reichardt (Guttiferae), three chromenes, 6-isobutyryl-5,7-dimethoxy-2,2-dimethyl-benzopyran; 7-hydroxy-6-isobutyryl-5-methoxy-2,2-dimethyl-benzopyran and 5-hydroxy-6-isobutyryl-7-methoxy-2,2-dimethyl-benzopyran were isolated. Their structures were determined by NMR spectroscopic analyses.

Antimicrobial Benzopyrans from the Receptacle of Sunflower
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 1996The antimicrobial substances in sunflower (Helianthus annuus) were investigated. Two antifungal benzopyran derivatives, 6-acetyl-2,2-dimethyl-1,2-benzopyran (1) and 6-acetyl-7-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-1,2-benzopyran (2), were isolated from the ethanol extract of sunflower receptacles.

A benzopyran derivative substituted at position 3
Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2002In (E)-3-[[(diphenoxyphosphoryl)methylhydrazono]methyl]-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one, C(23)H(19)N(2)O(5)P, the benzopyran-methylhydrazone moiety is planar and the two phenoxy phenyl rings are inclined at angles of 21.29 (6) and 89.33 (5) degrees. Weak C[bond]H...O and C[bond]H...N intramolecular interactions exert some influence on the planarity and ...

Benzopyrans are selective estrogen receptor (ER) beta agonists (SERBAs), which bind the ER receptor subtypes alpha and beta in opposite orientations. We have used structure based drug design to show that this unique phenomena can be exploited via substitution at the 8-position of the benzopyran A-ring to disrupt binding to ERalpha, thus improving ...

Synthesis of benzopyran derivatives as PPARα and/or PPARγ activators
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2019We describe the synthesis of 26 compounds, small polycerasoidol analogs, that are Lipinski's rule-of-five compliant. In order to confirm key structural features to activate PPARα and/or PPARγ, we have adopted structural modifications in the following parts: (i) the benzopyran core (hydrophobic nucleus) by benzopyran-4-one, dihydrobenzopyran or ...

The enamine (2), prepared from the title benzopyranone (1; R2= H, Me, and Ph) and dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal, on treatment with ammonia and hydroxylamine gives the fused pyridine (5) and pyridine 2-oxide (10), respectively. Hydrazine, phenylhydrazine, and guanidine undergo initial 1,6-addition to the enamine (2) ultimately giving the pyrazoles ...
