Self‐Nitriding Nanostructured Transition Metal Nitrides in Architected‐Carbon Matrices: Unveiling Mechanisms and Advancing Performance in Lithium‐Sulfur Pouch Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Imidazolium PIL nanoparticles, as an N‐rich template and morphology director, enable a colloidal self‐nitriding route to TMNs (VN, Mo2N) within controlled solid/hollow carbon architectures. As sulfur hosts/additives, TMNs accelerate Li–S redox kinetics and support high‐loading cathodes.

Optimization of a solid-phase extraction step by experimental design for application to SPE-GC-ECD analysis of four bromobenzoquinones and 2,4,6-tribromophenol in chlorinated seawater

open access: yesHeliyon
Bromobenzoquinones and 2,4,6-tribromophenol belong to disinfection or chlorination by-products than can be formed in bromide-rich waters during chlorination or chloramination.

Comparative analysis of TOC and conductivity analysers as applied to pharmaceutical water analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Pharmaceutical grade water requires the measurement of bioburden, Total Organic Carbon and conductivity. Here we report a comparative analysis from two TOC analysers and two conductivity systems.

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Electrochemical Oxidation of 1,4-Dichlorobenzene on Platinum Electrodes in Acetonitrile-Water Solution: Evidence for Direct and Indirect Electrochemical Oxidation Pathways

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2011
The degradation of 1,4-dichlorobenzene (p-DCB) in acetonitrile-water solution was investigated under electrochemical oxidation on a platinum electrode. The related mechanism was proposed through the organic analysis and electrochemical measurements such ...

Surface‐Bound Superoxide Radical‐Mediated Photo‐Fenton Mineralization of Ciprofloxacin on Fe‐Sillenite Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically compares the degradation efficiency of CIP in a H2O2‐alone system and a novel Bi12FeO20‐H2O2 photo‐Fenton system. It reveals for the first time the presence of a quinone‐imine intermediate in the H2O2‐alone system, which exhibits toxicity comparable to CIP.

Simple and convenient two step synthesis of 5-bromo-2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2019
5-bromo-2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone 3, a key intermediate for preparing coenzyme Q compounds, was readily synthesized in two steps by a reaction sequence starting from the commercially available 3,4,5-trimethoxytoluene 1 via bromination and ...

Inhibition of jack bean urease by tetrachloro-o-benzoquinone and tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry, 2006
Tetrachloro-o-benzoquinone (TCoBQ) and tetrachloro-p-benzoquinone (TCpBQ) were studied as inhibitors of jack bean urease in 20 mM phosphate buffer, pH 7.0, 1 mM EDTA, 25 degrees C. The mechanisms of inhibition were evaluated by analysis of the progress curves obtained with two procedures: the reaction initiated by addition of the enzyme and the ...

Pierceable, Water‐Resistant, and Transparent Nanofilm Electrodes Comprising Carbon Nanotubes for Long‐Term Monitoring of Plant Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultra‐flexible electrodes composed of single‐walled carbon nanotubes on a polymeric substrate exhibit excellent transparency, water resistance, and conformability to hairy surfaces. These non‐invasive nanofilms are easily pierced by trichomes, overcoming the structural barriers in plant electrophysiology.
