Natural Products Inspired Scaffold Diversification Leads to Unnatural Molecular Warhead and Covalent Strategy to Modulating Protein Function through Electrophilic Bromine Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a new thiolate‐reactive α,α‐gem‐dibromo lactam warhead that activates transcription factor Nrf2 and demonstrates anti‐inflammatory activities, which have implications in cancer, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular diseases. RNA‐seq illuminated detailed transcriptional profiles, and chemical reactions with cysteine‐containing compounds ...

Self‐Assembling Hybrid Hydrogel Reprograms the Stromal Vascular Fraction to Treat Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioinspired injectable hydrogel that enhances the therapeutic potential of stem cell‐rich stromal vascular fraction for treating osteoarthritis. By reprogramming cell behavior through epigenetic modulation, the hydrogel promotes cartilage regeneration and reduces joint damage in a rat model, offering a promising new approach for ...

First Characterization of a Cyanobacterial Xi-Class Glutathione S-Transferase in Synechocystis PCC 6803

open access: yesAntioxidants
Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are evolutionarily conserved enzymes crucial for cell detoxication. They are viewed as having evolved in cyanobacteria, the ancient photosynthetic prokaryotes that colonize our planet and play a crucial role for its ...

Coordination of Cyanobacterial Nitrate Assimilation and Photosynthesis by a Novel PsbO‐Interacting Protein PirN

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PirN was identified as a previously uncharacterized PsbO‐interacting protein specifically induced in nitrate‐grown cyanobacteria. Loss of PirN leads to coordinated downregulation of PsbO and the nitrate reductase NarB, causing decreased PSII activity and impaired growth under nitrate conditions. Complementation with either PsbO or NarB largely restores

9-(4'-dimethylaminophenyl)-2,6,7-trihydroxy-xanthene-3-one is a potentially novel antiplatelet drug which antagonizes the effect of thromboxane A2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Currently, used oral antiplatelet drugs are both limited and associated with the risk of treatment failure/resistance. Research in this area is hence highly desired.

Wearable Battery‐Free Electrotherapy of Smartsensors for Wound Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, we propose a simple strategy for integrating battery‐free electrotherapy wound dressings with wound sensors. Solid‐state supercapacitors constructed by PMAB with cross‐linked interpenetrating network provide energy for electrotherapy. Meanwhile, excellent mechanical sensing performance of wound dressing was used for wound assessment.

Synthesis and optoelectronic properties of benzoquinone-based donor–acceptor compounds

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
Herein, we report a mild and efficient palladium-catalyzed C–H functionalization method to synthesize a series of benzoquinone (BQ)-based charge-transfer (CT) derivatives in good yields. The optoelectronic properties of these compounds were explored both

The Investigation of Pyrocatechol Electrochemical Mechanism in Presence of Nitrite Ion on Platinum Electrode

open access: yesInternational Journal of New Chemistry, 2015
In this study, the electrochemical mechanism of catechol in presence and absence of nitrite ion, is investigated in phosphate buffer medium (pH=7) using platinum electrode through cyclic voltammetry method in various scan rates. Electrochemical oxidation

Diagonal chromatographic selection of cysteinyl peptides modified with benzoquinones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The derivatization of cysteine-containing peptides with benzoquinone compounds is rapid, quantitative and specific in acidic media. The conversion of cysteines into hydrophobic benzoquinone-adducted residues in peptides is used here to alter the ...
