Regioselectivity of the allylation of benzothiophene
Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 1977The reaction of benzothiophene with allyl halides in the presence of silver trichloroacetate in chlorine-containing hydrocarbons was investigated. It was established by gas-liquid chromatography and 13C NMR and mass spectrometry that 3-allylbenzothiophene and diallylbenzothiophene are formed in this case.

Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements, 2019
Functionalized benzothiophenes are important constructs found in molecules with wide ranging biological activity and in organic materials. An efficient, metal-free approach to C3 and C2 arylated and alkylated benzothiophenes is summarized in this review. The strategy utilizes synthetically unexplored yet readily accessible benzothiophene S-oxides in an

Biodegradation of benzothiophene sulfones by a filamentous bacterium
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1999Previous studies showed that benzothiophene and 3- and 5-methylbenzothiophenes are oxidized by some bacteria to yield their corresponding sulfones, which were not subsequently degraded. In this study, a filamentous bacterium was isolated, which grew on each of these three sulfones as its sole carbon, sulfur, and energy source.

Visible Light Photocatalytic Synthesis of Benzothiophenes
Organic Letters, 2012The photocatalytic reaction of o-methylthio-arenediazonium salts with alkynes yields substituted benzothiophenes regioselectively through a radical annulation process. Green light irradiation of eosin Y initiates the photoredox catalysis. The scope of the reaction was investigated by using various substituted diazonium salts and different alkynes.

Liquid crystalline benzothiophene derivatives
Liquid Crystals, 2008The role and position of the benzothiophene core in several series of calamitic liquid crystals was examined. Benzothiophene and its lateral 3‐chloro‐ and 6‐methoxy‐substituted derivatives, where the benzothiophene unit is in the terminal position, support formation of broad nematic phases.

Electrochemical copolymerization of benzothiophene with thiophene
Progress in Organic Coatings, 2013Abstract Copolymerization of benzothiophene (BTh) with thiophene (Th) was successfully achieved electrochemically by potentiodynamic methods. BTh and Th were also both copolymerized separately with pyrrole (Py) for comparison. The electrochemical properties of copolymers obtained at different monomer concentrations, scan rates and scan numbers were ...

Plasma polymerization of 1-benzothiophene
Journal of Applied Physics, 1991Semiconductive thin organic polymer films have been prepared by the plasma polymerization of 1-benzothiophene. Characteristics of the polymeric products such as their electrical conductivities, optical properties, and electron spin properties have been examined in detail.

Sorption of benzothiophene on marine sediments
Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology, 1997The sorption behavior of benzothiophene on marine sediments treated by different procedures was studied. Linear sorption isotherns were found for sorption of benzothiophene by no treatment and NaOAC-HOAC treatment sediments. The sediment treated by NaOAC-HOAC exhibited obviously largeKp value for benzothiophene.
