Cerium‐Based Metal–Organic Frameworks with UiO Architecture for Visible Light‐Induced Aerobic Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol

open access: yes, 2019
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), a new fascinating class of photocatalysts, have attracted considerable interest in the past few years. Unfortunately, the photocatalytic activities of most pristine MOFs are limited by their intrinsic drawbacks such as ...

Benzylation of Benzene and Toluene with Benzyl Alcohol

open access: yesNippon kagaku zassi, 1967

Efficient conversion of aromatic and phenylpropanoid alcohols to acids by the cascade biocatalysis of alcohol and aldehyde dehydrogenases

open access: yesSynthetic and Systems Biotechnology
Benzyl and phenylpropanoid acids are widely used in organic synthesis of fine chemicals, such as pharmaceuticals and condiments. However, biocatalysis of these acids has received less attention than chemical synthesis.

Au-Pd alloy nanoparticle catalyzed selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol and tandem synthesis of imines at ambient conditions

open access: yes, 2014
Alloy nanoparticles (NPs) of gold and palladium on ZrO2 support (Au–Pd@ZrO2) were found to be highly active in oxidation of benzyl alcohols and can be used for the tandem synthesis of imines from benzyl alcohols and amines via a one-pot, two-step process

Aldehyde–Olefin Couplings by Photoinduced Reduction of Electron‐Deficient Olefins with Hantzsch Ester Anions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Single‐electron transfer‐mediated reductive carbonyl–olefin couplings are valuable carbon–carbon bond forming reactions. However, limitations persist for couplings of aliphatic aldehydes with electron‐deficient olefins. Here, we report a simple, photocatalyst‐free protocol that overcomes these limitations by using a Hantzsch ester anion as a ...
