Kinetics of the oxidation of benzyl alcohol
Journal of Chemical Education, 1971The present paper describes an experiment in kinetics that is suitable for an undergraduate laboratory course in physical chemistry. It has the advantage of being simple to carry out and of brining some points that are not often covered in conventional kinetics experiments. The experiment has been performed with very satisfactory results by a number of

Copper-Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidative Amidation of Benzyl Alcohols
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016A Cu-catalyzed synthesis of amides from alcohols and secondary amines using the oxygen in air as the terminal oxidant has been developed. The methodology is operationally simple requiring no high pressure equipment or handling of pure oxygen. The commercially available, nonprecious metal catalyst, Cu(phen)Cl2, in conjunction with di-tert-butyl ...

Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohols with Manganese Dioxide
Nature, 1964SINCE the time that Ball, Goodwin and Morton1 first used manganese dioxide to oxidize vitamin A to retinene, many investigators have used this reaction. Evans2 has summarized much of the uses and Gritter and Wallace3 have carried out an extensive investigation with regard to the efficiency of numerous manganese dioxides on the yields of the oxidations.

Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol by a Dioxo Complex of Ruthenium(VI)
Inorganic Chemistry, 1999The kinetics and mechanism of reduction of trans-[Ru(VI)(tpy)(O)(2)(L)](2+) (L is H(2)O or CH(3)CN; tpy is 2,2':6',2' '-terpyridine) by benzyl alcohol have been studied in water and acetonitrile. The reactions are first order in alcohol and complex in both solvents and give benzaldehyde as the sole oxidation product. In acetonitrile, sequential Ru(VI) -

Kinetics and mechanism of the oxidation of benzyl alcohol by potassium chlorochromate
Reaction Kinetics & Catalysis Letters, 1991The kinetics of the oxidation of benzyl alcohol by potassium chlorochromate, KCrClO3, has been studied in dimethyl sulfoxide-dichloromethane medium. The reaction is catalyzed by acid. The effects of temperature and solvent composition were studied and activation parameters evaluated. Probable mechanisms are discussed.

4CzIPN catalyzed photochemical oxidation of benzylic alcohols
Tetrahedron Letters, 2021Abstract A green photoredox oxidation of benzylic primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones with air as an oxidant was reported. The oxidation shows broad substrate scope and excellent selectivity over benzylic alcohols to the aliphatic alcohols.
