Geometric phase from Aharonov–Bohm to Pancharatnam–Berry and beyond
Nature Reviews Physics, 2019Whenever a quantum system undergoes a cyclic evolution governed by a slow change of parameters, it acquires a phase factor: the geometric phase. Its most common formulations are known as the Aharonov–Bohm phase and the Pancharatnam and Berry phase, but ...

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in a pregnant woman is a rare catastrophic situation that places both the mother and the fetus at high risk. When this situation arises, numerous relevant issues must be individualized in the effort to reduce hazards threatening both the mother and the fetus.

Let a physical system be described by a Hamiltonian with two sets of variables \(\boldsymbol{r}\) and \(\boldsymbol{R}(t):\, H(\boldsymbol{r},\boldsymbol{R}(t)).\) The dynamical degrees of freedom \(\boldsymbol{r}\) (not necessarily space variables) are also called fast variables. The external time dependence is given by the slowly varying parameters \(

Berry polyphenols metabolism and impact on human gut microbiota and health.
Food & Function, 2019Berries are rich in phenolic compounds such as phenolic acids, flavonols and anthocyanins. These molecules are often reported as being responsible for the health effects attributed to berries.

In the lead article, the author suggests a ground‐breaking theoretical model for studying and explaining the processes of acculturation and adaptation experienced by immigrants in receptor countries. Through this model the author brings much needed attention to a growing worldwide phenomenon.

THERMAL DESTRUCTION OF PATULIN IN BERRIES AND BERRY JAMS
Journal of Food Safety, 1980Thermal destruction rates for patulin in blackcurrant, blueberries and strawberries and berry jams made of these materials with an addition of 440 g sucrose per kg were tested. Half‐lives were calculated to be 31, 65 and 77 min for unsweetened blackcurrants, blueberries and strawberries.

The last 2 cm of the extralaryngeal course of the recurrent laryngeal nerve is an area of critical anatomical importance. It is the site of greatest risk for neuropraxia, the site of development of the artificial genu and point of maximal tension within the recurrent laryngeal nerve at thyroidectomy and the site of bifurcation of the recurrent ...
