Cross With Caution: Antibiotic Cross-Reactivity and Co-Reactivity Patterns in Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Current understanding of cross-reactivity in severe cutaneous adverse reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics is limited, thereby making recommendations for future prescribing difficult. The underlying immunopathogenesis of these reactions is not completely

Safety of direct oral provocation test to delabel reported mild beta-lactam allergy in infants.

open access: yesAllergologia et Immunopathologia, 2023
BACKGROUND Around 10% of people report a drug allergy and avoid some medications because of fear of allergic reactions. However, only after a proper diagnostic workup can some of these reactions be confirmed as allergic or nonallergic hypersensitivities.

Addressing Inpatient Beta-Lactam Allergies: A Multihospital Implementation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice, 2017
Addressing inaccurate penicillin allergies is encouraged as part of antibiotic stewardship in the inpatient setting. However, implementing interventions targeted at the 10% to 15% of inpatients reporting a previous penicillin allergy can pose substantial logistic challenges. We implemented a computerized guideline for patients with reported beta-lactam

Genomic Insights Into Carbapenem‐Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae in Pediatric Bloodstream Infections in Zhejiang, China (2019–2024)

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
The primary mechanism of carbapenem resistance identified in pediatric CRKP‐BSI strains was the production of Class B metalloenzymes. We report, for the first time, an outbreak of bloodstream infections in a neonatal ward caused by the dissemination of NDM‐1‐producing ST25 K. pneumoniae.
