β-N-acetylhexosaminidase isoenzymes during chick embryo development
International Journal of Biochemistry, 19891. Two forms (I and II) with acidic pH optima and a neutral form of beta-hexosaminidase has been separated by DEAE-cellulose chromatography and characterized in skin and lung of 7, 9, 11, 14 day chick embryos and 1 day old chicken. 2. Forms I and II are similar to hexosaminidase A and B for their behaviour on DEAE-cellulose chromatography, Concanavalin

beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases from Serratia marcescens.
Microbios, 1992Two forms of beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase from Serratia marcescens with an optimum pH of 5.0 and 6.5, respectively, to 4-methylumbelliferyl-2-acetamido-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranoside were separated by DEAE-cellulose chromatography and Sephacryl S-200 chromatography.

The gram-positive soil bacterium Cellulomonas fimi is shown to produce at least two intracellular beta-N-acetylglucosaminidases, a family 20 beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase (Hex20), and a novel family 3-beta-N-acetylglucosaminidase/beta-glucosidase (Nag3), through screening of a genomic expression library, cloning of genes and analysis of their sequences ...

[Screening of beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase forming strains and conditions for enzyme production].
Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 1990About 1200 strains of microorganisms were screened including fungi, actinomyces, and bacteria, in which 237 strains producing the enzyme desired. The results showed that the beta-GlcNAcase and beta-GalNAcase always co-existed in one strain, though may be in different ratio.

Beta-N-Acetylhexosaminidases accept 4-deoxy-N-acetylhexosaminides as substrates
2009b-N-Acetylhexosaminidases (EC 3.2.1.52, CAZy GH20) possess so called wobbling specificity, which means that they cleave substrates both in gluco- and galacto- configurations, with the activity ratio depending on the enzyme source. Here we present a new finding that fungal b-N-acetylhexosaminidases are also able to hydrolyze and transfer 4-deoxy-N ...

pH-sensitive dissociation and association of beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase from boar sperm acrosome.
Biology of reproduction, 1994beta-N-Acetylhexosaminidase (beta-Hex, EC, 3.2.1.52) was released from cauda epididymal boar sperm by treatment with ionophore A23187, indicating that this enzyme is localized in the acrosome. beta-Hex was extracted on a large scale, with 2% acetic acid containing 0.2% Brij 35, from washed ejaculated sperm.

Three beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases [EC 3.2.1.52] and one beta-galactosidase [EC 3.2.1.23] were purified from the culture filtrate of streptococcus 6646 group K by a combination of column chromatographies on p-aminophenyl beta-D-thiogalactopyranoside-substituted Sepharose and N-(paminophenyl)oxamic acid-substituted Sepharose.

Beta-N-Acetylhexosaminidases (EC 3.2.1.52) are typical of their dual activity encompassing both N-acetylglucosamine and N-acetylgalactosamine substrates. Here we present the isolation and characterization of a selective -N-acetylhexosaminidase from the fungal strain of Aspergillus versicolor.

beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase exhibits a relatively high activity in human epididymis. Its isoenzymatic profile and immunological properties led us to conclude that the increased activity was not due to the expression of an isoform unrelated to the HEX A and B present in other human tissues.
