THE EFFECT OF SOURSOP LEAF EXTRACT ON PANCREATIC BETA CELL COUNT AND FASTING BLOOD GLUCOSE IN MALE WISTAR RATS EXPOSED TO A HIGH-FAT DIET AND STREPTOZOTOCIN

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana, 2017
Based on some researches known that soursop leaf extract can improve beta cell injury. The aims of this study was to analyze the effect of soursop leaf extract on fasting blood glucose (FBG) and pancreatic beta cell number in male Wistar rats wich were ...

Exendin-4 Promotes Beta Cell Proliferation via PI3k/Akt Signalling Pathway

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Background/Aims: Prevention of diabetes requires maintenance of a functional beta-cell mass, the postnatal growth of which depends on beta cell proliferation.

Tangent points of lower content d‐regular sets and β numbers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, 2019
Given a lower content $d$-regular set in $\mathbb{R}^n$, we prove that the subset of points in $E$ where a certain Dini-type condition on the so-called Jones $\beta$ numbers holds coincides with the set of tangent points of $E$, up to a set of $\mathcal{H}^d$-measure zero.

Regular Poles and β-Numbers in the Theory of Holomorphic Semigroups

open access: yesConstructive Approximation, 2013
We introduce the notion of regular (boundary) poles for infinitesimal generators of semigroups of holomorphic self-maps of the unit disc. We characterize such regular poles in terms of $ $-points (i.e. pre-images of values with positive Carleson-Makarov $ $-numbers) of the associated semigroup and of the associated K nigs intertwining function.

Descent c-Wilf Equivalence [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science, 2017
Let $S_n$ denote the symmetric group. For any $\sigma \in S_n$, we let $\mathrm{des}(\sigma)$ denote the number of descents of $\sigma$, $\mathrm{inv}(\sigma)$ denote the number of inversions of $\sigma$, and $\mathrm{LRmin}(\sigma)$ denote the number of

Pax4 Expression does not Transduce Pancreatic Alpha Cells to Beta Cells

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Background/Aims: The lack of available beta cells greatly limits the use of beta cell transplantation as a therapy for diabetes. Thus, generation of beta cells from other sources is substantially required.

Accessible surfaces of beta proteins increase with increasing protein molecular mass more rapidly than those of other proteins. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Here we present a systematic analysis of accessible surface areas and hydrogen bonds of 2554 globular proteins from four structural classes (all-α, all-β, α/β and α+β proteins) that is aimed to learn in which structural class the accessible surface area ...

Molecular Methods for Rare Hemoglobinopathy Cases: First Brazilian Report of Pediatric Siblings with Hb O‐Arab and Alpha‐Thalassemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hemoglobinopathies are prevalent globally; diagnosis is complex in high genetic admixture populations like Brazil. We report, in two pediatric siblings, the first documented cases in Brazil of heterozygosity for hemoglobin (Hb) O‐Arab with coinheritance of α‐thalassemia (αα/−α4.2; −α3.7/−α4.2), resulting in microcytic and hypochromic anemia ...

The Efficacy and Safety of Bevacizumab/Irinotecan/Temozolomide (BIT) for Relapsed/Refractory Neuroblastoma: The UK Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group Experience

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Patients with high‐risk neuroblastoma who either are refractory to induction chemotherapy or relapse following multi‐modal treatment have a dismal prognosis. Based on data from the BEACON trial, since 2021 the UK national guidelines recommend bevacizumab, irinotecan, and temozolomide (BIT) for patients with relapsed/refractory ...

MS treatment optimization: factors associated with poor clinical response in Nab positive patients [PDF]

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Neurology, 2016
Background and purpose. Interferon beta (IFN beta) belongs to the first line of disease modifying therapy drugs in the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis being widely used in the chronic treatment of this pathology. The serum presence of
