Reviewing the benefits and clinical outcomes of oral fibroblasts over mesenchymal stem cells for repairing periodontal defects during or after orthodontic tooth movement

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Orthodontic therapy applies forces to teeth, causing an inflammatory reaction in the periodontal ligament. This is repaired by remodeling of the periodontium, allowing tooth displacement. Although orthodontic therapy is mostly initiated during childhood and adolescence, the number of adults seeking this treatment is increasing as our society's

Transparent .BETA.-Tricalcium Phosphate Ceramics Prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, 2004
β-tricalcium phosphate (Ca3(PO4)2, β-TCP) is known to be biocompatible and osteoconductive. In the present study, β-TCP ceramics were prepared by the spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1000°C at a pressure of 60 MPa for 10 min at a heating rate of 25°C/min.

Clinical and histologic evaluation of granular Beta-tricalcium phosphate for the treatment of human intrabony periodontal defects: a report on five cases

open access: yes, 2010
BACKGROUND: The aim of the study is to clinically and histologically evaluate the healing of advanced intrabony defects treated with open flap debridement and the adjunct implantation of granular beta tricalcium phosphate (beta-TCP).

Serum biochemical evaluation of healing of critical-sized long bone defects in rats treated with biphasic hydroxyapatite (HA) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) bioceramic scaffolds

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary and Animal Sciences
Critical-sized long bone defects are those that would not heal spontaneously despite surgical stabilisation. The use of bioceramic scaffold has shown promising results in the repair of bone defects.

Advantages of horizontal centrifugation of platelet‐rich fibrin in regenerative medicine and dentistry

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract The aim of this comprehensive review was to evaluate comparative studies on horizontal and fixed‐angle centrifugation methods for preparing platelet‐rich fibrin (PRF). Furthermore, additional studies utilizing horizontal PRF (H‐PRF) were systematically investigated.

Tentpole technique for bone regeneration in vertically deficient alveolar ridges: A prospective study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research, 2018
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to qualitatively and quantitatively assess bone regeneration potential of tentpole technique using beta tricalcium phosphate bone graft in vertically deficient alveolar ridges.

30 years of enamel matrix derivative: Mimicking tooth development as a clinical concept

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract The use of growth factors (GFs) has become a cornerstone of modern regenerative periodontology. While the extent to which GFs enhance tissue regeneration compared to other biomaterials was initially uncertain, it is now well established that GFs play a critical role in the regeneration of various tissue types.

Development of .BETA.-tricalcium Phosphate/Collagen Sponge Composite for Bone Regeneration

open access: yesDental Materials Journal, 2006
Synthetic biomaterials have been developed and used for bone grafting. Here, we developed a biodegradable sponge composite for bone tissue engineering by combining beta-tricalcium phosphate (beta-TCP) and collagen. In addition, we sought to determine the optimal beta-TCP granules/collagen ratio by evaluating and bone formation in vivo.

The structure of divalent and trivalent cation substituted β-tricalcium phosphate [PDF]

open access: yes
Current methods of nuclear waste disposal are not suitable for the immobilisation of novel defence-based waste due to the high halogen content resulting from pyrochemical reprocessing.

Emerging locally delivered antimicrobial and immunomodulatory approaches for the prevention/treatment of peri‐implant diseases

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Peri‐implant diseases are dysbiosis‐mediated inflammatory disorders that occur in susceptible hosts. Antimicrobials and immunomodulatory agents therefore might be pertinent as adjunctive measures in the treatment of such disorders. The aim of this narrative review was to examine the existing evidence and assess the effectiveness of emerging ...
