Anti-β 2 -Glycoprotein I Autoantibodies and Atherosclerosis

International Reviews of Immunology, 2002
beta 2-Glycoprotein I (beta 2-GPI) is a major antigen for antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) present in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). We previously reported that beta 2-GPI specifically binds to oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL).

Consensus guidelines on anti-beta 2 glycoprotein I testing and reporting

Pathology, 2008
Consensus guidelines on anti-beta 2 glycoprotein I (anti-beta2GPI) testing have been developed to help minimise laboratory variation in the performance and reporting of assays for these antibodies. These guidelines include minimum and optional recommendations for the following aspects of anti-beta2GPI testing and reporting: (1) isotype of anti-beta2GPI

Beta-2-glycoprotein-I, infections, antiphospholipid syndrome and therapeutic considerations

Clinical Immunology, 2004
Evidence supports the association between infectious agents, antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), and the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies and anti-beta2-glycoprotein-I (beta2GPI) antibodies. Several mechanisms have been proposed to explain the role of bacteria/viruses in induction of an autoimmune condition, such as molecular mimicry between ...

Resistance to activated protein C activity of an anti-beta 2-glycoprotein I antibody in the presence of beta 2-glycoprotein I.

British journal of haematology, 1995
Some researchers claim that lupus anticoagulant-positive plasma may cause a false-positive reaction in the test for activated protein C (APC) resistance, a hereditary thrombophilic state characterized by abnormal factor V, which frequently causes venous thrombosis.

Beta 2-glycoprotein I--a Bi-Allelic polymorphism.

Acta anthropogenetica, 1981
Population samples from Hungary and India have been typed for beta 2-glycoprotein I concentrations. Whereas the Hungarian sample is in fairly good accord with the genetic model set up by Cleve2-beta 2-glycoprotein I concentrations are controlled by two autosomal codominant alleles BgN and BgD-the Indian samples do not fit this model.

Anticardiolipin Antibody and Anti-beta 2 Glycoprotein I Antibody Assays

2013
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disease and is a risk factor for a number of clinical manifestations; the classic presentations include fetal death or thrombosis (arterial or venous thromboembolism), in the presence of persistently increased titers of antiphospholipid (aPL) antibodies.

[Investigation of binding capacity of beta 2-glycoprotein I with anti-beta 2-glycoprotein I antibodies in lymphocytes undergoing apoptosis].

[Hokkaido igaku zasshi] The Hokkaido journal of medical science, 2000
Apoptosis (programmed cell death) is accompanied by loss of phospholipid asymmetry, i.e., translocation of aminophospholipids such as phosphatidylserine to the outer leaflet of the plasma membranes, which results in recognition of these cells by macrophages.
