The beta generalized exponential distribution [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 2009
We introduce the beta generalized exponential distribution that includes the beta exponential and generalized exponential distributions as special cases. We provide a comprehensive mathematical treatment of this distribution. We derive the moment generating function and the $r$th moment thus generalizing some results in the literature.

Boosted Beta regression. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Regression analysis with a bounded outcome is a common problem in applied statistics. Typical examples include regression models for percentage outcomes and the analysis of ratings that are measured on a bounded scale.

The Beta-Binomial Distribution

open access: yes, 2023
The beta-binomial distribution can be thought of as a binomial distribution where the probability of success in each trial is not fixed but follows a beta distribution. It is often used to capture correlation in a sequence of Bernoulli trials or to model

BLTM: Beta and LQI Based Trust Model for Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
To defend against internal attacks in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), building a trust model between sensors nodes has been proved to be an effective way in this paper.

Attribute Sampling Plan for Submitted Lots Based on Prior Information and Bayesian Approach

open access: yesMathematics
An acceptance sampling plan is a method used to make a decision about acceptance or rejection of a product based on adherence to a standard. Meanwhile, prior information, such as the process capability index (PCI), has been applied in different ...

Stochastic Extreme Wind Speed Modeling and Bayes Estimation under the Inverse Rayleigh Distribution

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Inverse Rayleigh probability distribution is shown in this paper to constitute a valid model for characterization and estimation of extreme values of wind speed, thus constituting a useful tool of wind power production evaluation and mechanical safety of

Testing Multivariate Normality Based on Beta-Representative Points

open access: yesMathematics
Testing multivariate normality in high-dimensional data analysis has been a long-lasting topic in the area of goodness of fit. Numerous methods for this purpose can be found in the literature. Reviews on different methods given by influential researchers

A Nested Test for Common Yield Distributions with Applications to U.S. Corn

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2013
We propose the use of maximum-entropy techniques to nest and test the functional form of commonly used yield densities. We demonstrate how common parametric yield models can be nested within a maximum-entropy framework and subsequently tested for using ...

Continuous correlated beta processes

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we consider a (possibly continuous) space of Bernoulli experiments. We assume that the Bernoulli distributions are correlated. All evidence data comes in the form of successful or failed experiments at different points. Current state-of-the-
