Effects of Betahistine Metabolites on Frog Ampullar Receptors
Previous studies have demonstrated that betahistine, an histamine-like substance used widely as an anti-vertigo drug, can decrease ampullar receptor resting discharge without affecting their mechanically evoked responses.

Betahistine-induced bronchospasm
Allergy, 1996Betahistine is a cerebral vasodilator structurally related to histamine, which stimulates H1 bronchial and vascular receptors. We report the case of a 28‐year‐old female patient who presented bronchospasm during treatment with betahistine hydrochloride. The prick test was negative. The oral challenge test showed bronchospasm and urticarial lesions.

Betahistine in Ménière's disease
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1976The effects of betahistine hydrochloride (Serc) on the clinical features of Ménière's disease were assessed in two double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over clinical studies. The diagnosis was based on a peripheral, fluctuating, recruiting, cochlear (sensorineural) deafness in one or both ears, tinnitus (usually of low tone) and paroxysmal attacks ...

Drug Safety, 2006
Betahistine is a structural analogue of histamine that is prescribed for the treatment of vestibular disorders such as Ménière's disease and the symptomatic treatment of vertigo. It is estimated from sales information that >130 million patients have been exposed to the drug since its registration in 1968. In this review we analyse the safety profile of

Betahistine for Meniere’s disease
BMJ, 2016Betahistine is ineffective, patients urgently need better alternatives The publication of a very well constructed randomised controlled trial1 of betahistine (Serc) for Meniere’s disease underlines the lack of evidence for the efficacy of this drug at both low and high doses. What does this mean for current and future users?
