Stability of Betaine Capsules [PDF]
Betaine is used to treat homocystinuria and is not available in Canada as a formulated drug. In order to facilitate the administration of this compound to patients, a capsule formulation and an evaluation of its stability were required. Capsule formulations of betaine were developed (160 mg and 625 mg of betaine per capsule).

Advances and Perspectives in Graphene‐Based Quantum Dots Enabled Neuromorphic Devices
Graphene‐based QDs are zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials with pronounced quantum confinement and tunable electronic structures. Herein, we summarize their synthesis strategies and functionalization methods, and highlight their functional roles and operating mechanisms in devices, as well as recent advances in neuromorphic electronics. We anticipate

Betaine distribution in the Malvaceae
Aerial parts of 26 taxa, distributed in 18 genera and all 5 tribes of the Malvaceae have been examined for the presence of betaines. Glycinebetaine was obtained in high yield (0.5-4.6%, dry weight) from all the plants studied, except Abelmoschus moschatus, in extracts of which glycinebetaine was not detected.

We developed the ASCAL pipeline, integrating complementary spatial transcriptomics, to construct a high‐fidelity mouse whole‐eye single‐cell atlas. Applying ASCAL to a retinal artery occlusion (RAO) model revealed spatially restricted immune activation localized to the ganglion cell layer and the selective depletion of a translationally active, outer ...

Histone Modification Complex JMJ704‐HDA709 Negatively Regulates Salinity Tolerance in Rice
This study reveals that the rice histone demethylase JMJ704 interacts with HDA709―a H3K9ac deacetylase characterized herein―to form a chromatin‐modifying complex. Under salt stress, OsWRKY72 recruits this complex through interaction with JMJ704 to target loci, repressing the expression of oxidative stress and salt‐responsive genes via removal of ...

Functional Characterization of Betaine/Proline Transporters in Betaine-accumulating Mangrove [PDF]
Betaine is an important osmoprotectant in many plants, but its transport activity has only been demonstrated using a proline transporter from tomato, a betaine-nonaccumulating plant. In this study, two full-length and one partial transporter genes were isolated from betaine-accumulating mangrove Avicennia marina.

Betaine—The dark knight of the brain
AbstractThe role of betaine in the liver and kidney has been well documented, even from the cellular and molecular point of view. Despite literature reporting positive effects of betaine supplementation in Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and schizophrenia, the role and function of betaine in the brain are little studied and reviewed.
