Intelligent Sensing: The Emerging Integration of Machine Learning and Soft Sensors Based on Hydrogels and Ionogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 48, December 29, 2025.
By integrating with machine learning (ML), hydrogel‐ and ionogel‐based soft sensors are gaining human brain‐like capabilities to perceive, learn, and predict. This review summarizes their advances, focusing on ML‐powered applications such as handwriting/gesture/object/motion/speech recognition, health monitoring, food detection, and beyond.

A Multifunctional Molecular Probe for Multimodal Imaging‐Guided Potent Photothermal/Photodynamic Therapy of Endometriosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 43, November 20, 2025.
The cRGD‐ILD molecular probe integrates clinically available components: a cRGD peptide (integrin αvβ3 targeting), ICG (for fluorescence/photoacoustic imaging and phototherapy), and Gd‐DTPA (MRI contrast). Utilizing small size and receptor targeting, it achieves selective lesion accumulation.

Methionine synthesis in Neurospora. The isolation of cystathionine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1947
Among artificially produced biochemical mutants of Neurospora, those which have lost the ability to synthesize methionine form the largest class. At the present writing 87 occurrences of the methionineless character have been observed in this laboratory ...

Maternal Isoflavone‐S Improve Offspring Intestinal Homeostasis Through Maternal Metabolome–Microbiome Intestine Interactions in a Pig Model

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 6, Page 2823-2838, November 2025.
Our results indicate that maternal ISO‐S during late gestation and throughout lactation can improve offspring intestinal homeostasis, which may be related to antioxidant enzymes and immunoglobulins in sow colostrum through maternal metabolome–microbiome intestine interactions.

Synthesis and Coordination of Isomeric Phosphinoferrocene Sulfonates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 30, October 22, 2025.
Two isomeric phosphinoferrocene sulfonates are prepared as homologs of 1′‐(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene‐1‐sulfonic acid and are isolated as stable crystalline ammonium salts. The reactions of these proligands with Pd(II) precursors containing an auxiliary C,N‐chelate ligand indicate the hemilabile nature of the phosphinosulfonates and lead to P ...

Microwave assisted treatment of carpentry waste wood flour with natural deep eutectic solvents for nanocellulose production and removal of organic pollutants

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications
Row carpentry waste wood flour, constituted of poplar (∼60 %) and fir (∼30 %) biomass, was subjected for the first time to microwave-assisted deep eutectic solvent (DES) treatment, with the purposes of solubilizing lignin and hemicellulose, leaving ...

Pharmacological manipulation of L-carnitine transport into L6 cells with stable overexpression of human OCTN2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
.: The high-affinity Na+-dependent carnitine transporter OCTN2 (SLC22A5) has a high renal expression and reabsorbs most filtered carnitine. To gain more insight into substrate specificity of OCTN2, we overexpressed hOCTN2 in L6 cells and characterized ...

Impacts of plant-based foods in ancestral hominin diets on the metabolism and function of gut microbiota in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Ancestral human populations had diets containing more indigestible plant material than present-day diets in industrialized countries. One hypothesis for the rise in prevalence of obesity is that physiological mechanisms for controlling appetite evolved ...
