Treatment of corneal epithelial wounds in dogs using basic fibroblast growth factor
An experimental study examined the effect of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on the healing of corneal epithelial wounds in dogs. A corneal wound was made on one eye from each of 40 dogs with a corneal trephine (6 mm diameter).

Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.

Small particle-size talc is associated with poor outcome and increased inflammation in thoracoscopic pleurodesis [PDF]
Rationale: Talc is very effective for pleurodesis, but there is concern about complications, especially acute respiratory distress syndrome. Objectives: It was the aim of this study to investigate if talc with a high concentration of small particles ...

Initial bFGF Distribution Affects the Depth of Three-dimensional Microvessel Networks in Vitro
Control of three-dimensional (3D) microvessel formation is critical for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering because vessels are essential for the formation and maintenance of organ function. In order to function, tissues need an internal network

ABSTRACT Engineering living matter has great clinical potential to deliver functional replacement organs. However, clinical translation remains hampered by the current inability to maintain viability of clinically relevant‐sized constructs. During the pre‐vascular phase, implants rely on nutrient diffusion for survival, which is insufficient at ...

Expression of bFGF and VEGF in brain astrocytoma [PDF]
Neovascularization is an important factor in the prognosis of brain tumor and many angiogenetic factors have been evaluated for prognostic significance. Among them, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) are known as potent angiogentic factors and mitogens.

This manuscript describes the cultivation of viable microvessels from cryopreserved human brain tissue. When embedded in hydrogels and cultured in microfluidic devices, these microvessels exhibit complex architectures reminiscent of arterioles and capillaries, can be perfused, and display intact barrier function. Collectively, these results demonstrate

Roles of TGFβ and FGF signals during growth and differentiation of mouse lens epithelial cell in vitro. [PDF]
Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling pathways play important roles in the proliferation and differentiation of lens epithelial cells (LECs) during development.
