Decoding Tattoo and Permanent Makeup Pigments: Linking Physicochemical Properties to Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Elimination Profiles Using Quantitative Structure–Activity Relationship (QSAR)‐Based New Approach Methodologies (NAMs)

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, Volume 2, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study applies QSAR‐based new approach methodologies to 90 synthetic tattoo and permanent makeup pigments, revealing systemic links between their physicochemical properties and absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination profiles. The correlation‐driven analysis using SwissADME, ChemBCPP, and principal component analysis uncovers insights

The Reliability and Validity of Manual Palpation to Assess Lower Limb Arterial Occlusion Pressure in Older Adults, for Application in Blood Flow Restriction Exercise

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT (A) Investigate test‐retest reliability of posterior tibial pulse palpation to determine arterial occlusion pressure (AOP) and examine validity against hand‐held Doppler ultrasound. (B) Investigate the suitability of using 130% systolic brachial blood pressure for prescribing cuff inflation pressure for blood flow restriction (BFR) exercise ...

Invasive Assessment of Hemodynamic, Metabolic and Ionic Consequences During Blood Flow Restriction Training

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
Purpose: Medically recommended training often faces the dilemma that necessary mechanical intensities for muscle adaptations exceed patients' physical capacity.

Evaluating the First CE‐Marked LLM‐Based Chatbot for Evidence‐Based Neurology

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 8, August 2026.
Prof. Valmed, the first CE‐marked LLM‐based medical retrieval tool in Europe, was tested and compared using an established neurology benchmark. Its performance was comparable to most other evaluated tools but did not outperform a reasoning‐enabled system using whitelisted neurology sources.

Effects of High and Low Intensity Endurance Training With and Without Blood Flow Restriction on 3-km Running Performance

open access: yesInternational Journal of Strength and Conditioning
We investigated the effects of high- and low-intensity endurance training, with and without blood flow restriction (BFR), on 3-km running performance in recreational athletes.

Enduring autism‐like phenotypes and deregulated hypothalamic prosocial peptides after early‐life exposure to indoor flame retardants in male C57BL/6 mice

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are neuroendocrine‐disrupting chemicals that produce adverse neurodevelopmental effects. PBDEs have been implicated as risk factors for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), which is characterized by abnormal psychosocial functioning and is commonly comorbid with cognitive deficits and sensory abnormalities ...

The Association Between Muscle Deoxygenation and Muscle Hypertrophy to Blood Flow Restricted Training Performed at High and Low Loads

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
The metabolic stress induced by blood flow restriction (BFR) during resistance training (RT) might maximize muscle growth. However, it is currently unknown whether metabolic stress are associated with muscle hypertrophy after RT protocols with high- or ...

Blood Flow Restricted Exercise and Vascular Function

open access: yesInternational Journal of Vascular Medicine, 2012
It is established that regular aerobic training improves vascular function, for example, endothelium-dependent vasodilatation and arterial stiffness or compliance and thereby constitutes a preventative measure against cardiovascular disease. In contrast,

Effects of a low-load multi-component training program with blood flow restriction versus the same program without blood flow restriction on muscle thickness and functional outcomes in physically inactive young adults: randomized controlled trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
IntroductionLow-load resistance training [≤50% one-repetition maximum (1-RM)] produces modest hypertrophic adaptations in untrained individuals. Blood flow restriction (BFR) training, combining low mechanical loads (30–40% 1-RM) with proximal limb ...
