Biaxial fracture tests on concrete — Development and experience

Cement and Concrete Composites, 1995
Abstract Crack initiation and crack propagation in concrete buildings are mostly caused by a multi-axial stress field in the component. In order to simulate this realistic state of loading in the laboratory, a simple and handy apparatus for biaxial fracture tests was developed.

Biaxial testing device for large animal tissue experiments

open access: yes
A variety of approaches have been taken to carry out experiments involving animal tissue, both for small and large animals. One area of focus for animal tissue experiments is to determine the response of the tissue under various stresses, such as linear ...

A Piezoelectric Biaxial Loading Device for Interfacial Fracture Experiments

Experimental Mechanics, 2004
In this paper we describe the development of a new biaxial loading device for investigating mixed-mode fracture at bimaterial interfaces. The new device makes use of piezoelectric actuators and specially arranged flexures to provide independent displacements normal and tangential to the interface.

Strip Biaxial Experiments of Human Lung Parenchyma

Advances in Bioengineering, 1998
Abstract For the stress-strain relationships of human lung parenchyma, the present state of the art is that the form of the constitutive equations is known, but the material constants are unknown, and must be determined by new measurements.

Modelization of ratcheting in biaxial experiments

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1989
Abstract A new constitutive equation has been developed on a purely phenomenological basis in order to interpret ratcheting experiments. The model is based on a generalized Armstrong-Frederick equation for the kinematic variable; the coefficients of this equation are functions of both instantaneous and accumulated plastic strain.

Modeling of Ratchetting in Biaxial Experiments

Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 1992
A new unified viscoplastic constitutive equation has been developed for interpreting ratchetting experiments. The model is based essentially on a generalized Armstrong-Frederick equation for the kinematic variable; the coefficient of the dynamic recovery term in this equation is a function of both instantaneous and accumulated inelastic strain which is

Stepping Experiment Analysis of a Biaxial Piezoelectric Actuated Stage

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
In this research, our research team used the self-designed piezoelectric actuator to achieve the micro/nanometer level precise positioning biaxial piezoelectric actuated stage through the redesign of stage mechanism. A novel piezoelectric actuator structure - 4-9-9-14 piezoelectric actuator is constructed, and it is made of piezoelectric buzzer to ...

An experiment on temperature variations in sandstone during biaxial loading

Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, Parts A/B/C, 2015
Abstract The temperature response to stress–strain variations in rock is useful in developing an understanding of the thermodynamic property of crust. In this study, the temperature of sandstone during loading was investigated using laboratory biaxial testing.

Experiments on H-Columns Under Biaxial Bending

Journal of the Structural Division, 1968
Twelve isolated steel H-columns were tested under loading eccentric with respect to both principal axes of the end-cross sections. The eccentricities of loading were substantially alike at both ends of the specimens. The columns were manufactured from various alloys. Both stress-relieved and as-rolled specimens were tested.
